No mains-lead to hold you back; no dirty, hard-to-start petrol engine - the cutting-edge Redback E435C Cordless Leaf-Blower is a practical and convenient way to keep paths, driveways, patios, lawns and decking clear of unsightly and potentially hazardous leaf-litter.
It’s compatible with any of three 40v batteries (2Ah; 4Ah; 6Ah) that have been developed and produced in-house by Redback; and which are based around advanced lithium-ion cells from Japan.
Lithium-ion batteries have numerous advantages over older lead-acid and ni-cad units - they’re faster charging and offer longer run-times; they don’t suffer from self-discharge or memory-effect issues; and they’re far more durable.
The Redback E435C boasts a four-stage speed-control that firstly enables you make adjustments to suit the type of surface you’re working on and the nature of the debris you’re clearing; and secondly makes it possible to manage energy consumption and run-time.
An optimised turbine-design works to minimise sound-output, thereby making it ideal for use where noise might be a problem; while a brushless motor means you can be confident of longevity, reliability and efficiency.
Ultra-lightweight, this model comes-in at only 2.5kg, excluding battery-pack.

A New Blower with Plenty of GustoReview by Bruno Dore / (Posted on 16/12/2016)There’s a new leaf blower on the block – and it’s well worth a puff. I tried a Redback with its 40-volt lithium battery before jumping in with a purchase, but I have a feeling one of these will come down my chimney-pot in the next fortnight or so.
Firstly, size and weight. At 85cms long, reducing to about 50cms if you take the snout off, it is capable of getting into just about any tricky corner. And although it is supplied with a shoulder strap, only the most fragile of gardeners would bother with that as it weighs roughly 4kg (about 9lbs).
Secondly, but most importantly, has it got enough puff? The answer is not blowing in the wind. It's a firm yes – as good as anything I have used before, in one respect better. It has three power settings – gentle, modest and full blast – useful if you want a bit more control when trying to corral those beastly little leafy things into a neat heap rather than blast the whole lot 10 feet into the air and shower them everywhere.
Thirdly, the battery life is entirely adequate at about half an hour on full blast between charges – plenty unless your garden is a prairie. And the recharge takes about 90 minutes – time enough for you to go off and do something else if you haven’t quite finished.
But finally – and again importantly, there’s no cables. How often have you become snagged on just about everything that is capable of snagging you with an electric blower with a cable? Say goodbye to all of that.
And absolutely finally, noise pollution; even as a professional gardener: I get seriously weary of the din generated by those temperamental little two-stroke blowers. But the Redback? No worse than a slightly boisterous vacuum cleaner, so the neighbours will like it too.
