Hints & Tips
So you’ve given the lawn a couple of trims and now need to tidy up the edges and scrubby corners in the garden.
Not that long ago this meant getting down on hands and knees with a pair of garden shears or hacking away with a scythe.
But modern strimmers and brush cutters now make the job much easier and can cope with all sorts of tougher grass especially the more powerful ones which can quickly clear brambles and gorse with a cutting blade.
So if you need a new one here are ten top machines we’ve selected which all offer top performance at keen prices and are ideal for a Spring clean-up.
The first is the Einhell GH-PT 2538 AS Petrol Grass Trimmer, ideal for trimming lawn edges and longer grass around trees and garden furniture.
A 25.4 cc two-stroke engine has a full crank to give it a longer life and has a head with twin line feed which can be fed out automatically. It produces fewer emissions and with electronic ignition is easy to start.
It comes with a shoulder strap to make it easier to use over longer periods and the shaft splits in two to make it easier to store and transport.
It costs £89.95, £60 off Einhell’s recommended retail price and is delivered free the next working day with a two year warranty.
This next one is a very special deal at the moment.
The Einhell GH-BC Petrol Brushcutter plus Free Kit, a special limited offer, is a straight shaft machine with a 25 cc two-stroke engine. And this one can be used with either a strimming head for straggling grass around edges and paths or with a metal blade with three teeth for the tougher bits.

And the Einhell GH-BC 43AS Brushcutter is a more powerful machine again with a 42.7 cc engine and chopper-style handlebars for easier control.
The dual ball bearing crankshaft will minimise vibrations making it more comfortable to use over longer periods and with so much power it will tackle more stubborn vegetation.
The brush cutting blade has four mean teeth and the strimming line, when used in that mode, is automatically fed.
For ease of transport and storage the shaft can be split.
It costs £159.95, a full £100 off the recommended retail price and is delivered free the next working day. There is a two year warranty from Einhell.
Now over to a favourite British brand for the Mountfield MB2801J Two-Stroke Brushcutter armed with a 25.4 cc two-stroke engine and a metal blade with three teeth.

This one has a loop handle which many people prefer as it is easier to use in tight areas and a shoulder harness is also included.
It costs £179, £30 off the maker’s recommended price and has free delivery and a two year warranty.
