Here is an admission and confession that will surprise and shock all my fans (or is that ‘both’). Stripes on the lawn. Something I fear I have never attempted. There. I have said it. I feel shriven. I have not put stripes on my lawn before. “What?” I hear you say, shock and alarm spreading across your features like trendy bars in a gentrified area, “You? Drew Hardy? Don’t have a perfectly striped lawn?” Correct.
Holly will be laughing into her prosecco on hearing this news. She thinks I am Lord Lawn of Lawnshire and, admittedly, I have a smart lawn, it’s just that I never bothered with stripes. However, this is something I mean to put right. I am determined that very soon my lawn will look like the lawns of Wimbledon, the grounds of Lords or the chest of an idiot sunbathing behind railings. Striped.
So how to do it? Well, follow my colleague Dick’s blogs for a start. Over a long period he has instructed, informed and fairly shouted about the great equipment you can buy to put those striped on your lawn. So let’s look at some of the blogs and equipment he has recommended. he knows you know.
First up, his current blog concentrates on the Simplicity Regent XL/SLT200 Garden Tractor (with Striping Roller) a superb high end lawn tractor that will give you the best of stripes. When ti comes to stripes they do say you should bend it like Beckham. This because, of course, the reason you get a stripe is to change the direction of the blades of grass and the light reflecting off them. The more weight on the grass blades, the more defined the stripes and this tractor puts a good, heavy roller to work while giving you a superb smart cut. And, here;s a thing, this ride on comes with MowDirect’s Premium Delivery Service, arriving assembled, tested, tuned, cleaned and ready to go ALL FOR FREE to the the UK mainland and with FREE OIL
Then you simply must read Stripe Me in which he extols the virtues of our exclusive Morrison Oxford 48RS Self-Propelled Petrol Roller Lawnmower , with pedigree as impressive as a Crufts champion, including a heft Briggs and Stratton engine, this is a mower so classy that if it could talk it wouldn’t talk to the likes of us. Beautifully built and designed with looks that hark back to the best of British but also sit well in a contemporary garden this mower will give you great performance and a good, defined stripe. FREE delivery to the UK mainland is included and at £569.00 it’s £230 below the RRP.
What next? Well, if you already have a tractor, you could always use a roller attachment. A traditional way of creating stripes, a straightforward roller, towed behind your ride-on is a great way to achieve this. Dick’s blog will give you all the information you need on this simple but effective piece of gear, the MD 36T Steel Towed Lawn Roller. Only £139.95!
And that’s it for me this week. why? Why am I not doing my usual drone on for several thousand words until everyone falls asleep? Because I want to get out and put stripes on my lawn that’s why, and I suggest you do too!
So go on. Go out and bend those grass blades to your will and sit back and…enjoy your garden. Drew Hardy
