New range of battery-powered garden machinery from Mountfield, light and easy to use

Mountfield cordless tiller

I told you on Monday about the great advantages of Mountfield cordless lawnmowers which use lithium-ion batteries for power.

But Mountfield also has other garden machinery, the cordless Freedom48 range, which uses the same battery so you can collect a huge range of garden machinery without spending a fortune. There are seven different machines in the range.

The prices listed are for the machine only and do not include the battery and charger.

The Mountfield MT-48LI Cordless Grass-Trimmer weighs just 3kg and has a 30.5 cm cutting width and has twin spools for the strimming line which feeds out automatically when the motor is stopped and then started again.

The cutting head pivots so you can get into those more difficult areas. And by using this you can use it to edge the lawn – a guide wheel helps achieve a really neat finish.

It costs £79, and like the other products in the Freedom48 range is delivered free the next working day and has a one year warranty.

The Mountfield MH-48LI Cordless Hedgetrimmer is light and easy to use and has a handle with three positions and a 61 cm cutting length.

Even if you have a petrol-powered hedge trimmer you’ll find this really handy for hedge sides and difficult-to-reach areas and small branches.

Double-reciprocating blades deliver a clean cut and it will run for up to 70 minutes on one charge. It, too, costs £79.

For the tops of hedges and branches you can use the Mountfield MM-48LI Cordless Pole Pruner/Long-Reach Hedgetrimmer.

The hedgetrimmer has a 50 cm double-side blade which pivots so you can get the right angle for your hedge.

The pruner attachment has a 50 cm blade designed to cut through 2 cm thick branches and the automatic chain oiler is fed from a translucent tank.

The shaft has three sections so you can adjust the length according to the job you’re doing, and you also receive a shoulder harness to make the job less tiring. It costs £139.

Here’s one you’ll find very useful at the moment, the Mountfield MR-48LI Cordless Tiller has a tilling width from 21 to 26 cm and you can also set how deep it goes. So you can use it for tilling as well as weeding.

Transport wheels make it easy to move around the garden. It costs £139.

For rougher unkempt areas of the garden the Mountfield MB-48LI Cordless Brushcutter will fit the bill.

This has both a line trimming head for lighter areas and a metal blade for the tough stuff. There is also a switch that can regulate the power according to the toughness of the task.

The strimming line is fed out just by bumping the cutting head  on the ground and there is a shoulder harness as well. All this costs just £139.

The Mountfield MBV-48LI Cordless Blower-Vac is a machine which comes into its own in autumn as it can blast leaves into a pile thanks to a 174 mph blast of air.

And when used as a vac it will suck up and compact the debris into a bag and leave you with a valuable garden mulch or you can put it straight on to the compost heap.

It weighs only 2.5 kg and costs £139.

And finally there is the Mountfield MC-48LI Cordless Chainsaw which uses an Oregon bar and chain to give excellent log and branch cutting power. It has an inertia chain brake quick-release throttle trigger.

It will run for 50 minutes on a single charge and costs £139
