The clearance with is 52cm – 20in – and it has a discharge chute controlled from the handlebar both in pitch and direction. You can set the ‘throw’ distance between two and eight metres.

Keep moving: Oleo-Mac Artik 56 Dual Stage Snow Blower

The Oleo-Mac Artik 56 Dual-Stage Snow Blower (Manual Start) has a wider 56cm working with – 22in – and is self propelled with five forward and two reverse gears. A reverse gear is very handy if you get stuck in a deep drift!

It is a two stage machine with the snow dragged into the front chute and then blown clear with a powerful auger. The throwing distance is up to 12 metres and again the discharge chute is adjustable.

Deep tread Snow Hog tyres give plenty of grip.

It also has an adjustable slider under the chute so you can alter the working height.

This one costs £449, £250 off the maker’s recommended price and it is delivered free the next working day with a three year warranty.

The Oleo-Mac Artik 56 EL Dual-Stage Snow Blower (Electric Start) is the same machine but this one, as you may have guessed starts by turning a key rather than tugging on a starter rope.

It costs £549 and again has a three year warranty and free next working day delivery.
