Three lightweight petrol mowers with heavyweight performances

Modern lawn mowers are adept at cutting large areas quickly and efficiently, but the larger ones can be pretty heavy to move around.
So here are three self-propelled petrol mowers which are lighter than most but can still give an excellent cut to the lawn.
The first is our own little MD 41SP Self-Propelled Petrol Lawn Mower

designed for people who want a self-propelled machine for a smaller lawn.
It has a 118 cc engine and a cutting width of 41 cm and cutting heights from 27 to 72 cm through five settings.
It has a steel deck and is a robustly-built machine with a 40 litre grass box. And it can cope with slightly uneven lawns as it has larger rear wheels which are mounted on ball bearings.
The handles fold down so it takes up less room in the garage or shed and weighs just 28 kg.
It costs just £169.95 compared with the maker’s recommended retail price of £249.95.

The second is from one of Britain’s favourite manufacturers and it is the Mountfield HP46 Petrol Rotary Hand Propelled Lawnmower, currently on special offer and offering great value for money.
The engine is Mountfield’s own 100 cc one and it has a cutting width of 18 in making it suitable for medium sized lawns.
The grass box can take 55 litres and the deck is designed for better airflow which gives better collection when the grass is damp.
Cutting heights are from 20 mm up to 70 mm controlled by a single lever.
This mower costs £179 compared to £269 recommended by the manufacturers. There is a two year warranty from Mountfield and free next working day delivery.
It weighs 23.5 kg.
And the third is a mower exclusive to us and is from a leading Italian manufacturer. The Oleo-Mac G53-TK Petrol Self-Propelled Lawn Mower is a tough little worker with a 159 cc Emak engine and has cutting heights from 28 to 75 cc.
The cutting width is 51 cm making it suitable for larger lawns, say up to 2000 sq metres. And the grass box can hold a useful 60 litres.
The cutting deck is steel and has a powder coated finish for a longer life and it weighs 31 kg.
