Hints & Tips
National Gardening Week is underway – and the organisers are hoping that it will prompt Brits up and down the country to get to work with their garden tools.
It is being hosted by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) – and growing plants is being encouraged in particular.
The benefits gardens can bring to communities was emphasised, as well as the fact that the activity can help protect the environment, educate children and generally contribute to happier lives.
RHS Garden Rosemoor in Devon will be hosting a panel of experts who will be offering tips on what plants are the best for introducing pollinators to a green space.
The team at RHS Garden Harlow Carr will be helping visitors find out more about how to sow and manage a wildflower patch, as well as generally the best way to prepare the ground for planting.
One of the most indispensable tools for this kind of activity is a cultivator, as the garden tool can be used for tillage and preparing the soil. This will ensure it is in the best condition before committing to planting.
We have a very wide range of these machines available here at MowDIRECT, such as the Einhell BG-MT 3360-LD Petrol Tiller / Cultivator.
It is ideal for those who are intent on growing vegetables in a larger patch or allotment.
Designed to offer long life and service, it is easy to use and very reliable. The machine is available for just £299.95 including VAT, which is a considerable saving on the RRP of £499.95.
National Gardening Week was launched just last year by the RHS – and the first iteration promoted the importance of wildflowers.
Speaking at the time, Sarah Raven, who presented Bees, Butterflies and Blooms for the BBC, said: "Because we have destroyed so much of their natural habitat, it is crucial we restore as many flowers as possible."
