New research aims to establish what lawns mean to gardeners

New research aims to establish what lawns mean to gardeners
For many gardeners, there is very little that is more satisfying than creating a clean stripe across their green space with the use of a lawn mower.

Now, a PhD student sponsored by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has teamed up with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) in order to start work on a new form of biodiverse floral lawn.

Chief scientist of the RHS John David underlined his belief that this research will do a great deal in terms of encouraging gardeners to really think about what it is that their lawn means to them.

"It is rare to be able to demonstrate the practical application of research so early on and so we are delighted that the RBKC have given Lionel such a magnificent opportunity," the expert commented.

October probably presents the last good opportunity for green-fingered enthusiasts to give the grass a final once-over before the colder and wetter conditions really set in.
