The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) are scouring the country to find top judges for next year's event.
TV presenter and RHS council member James Alexander-Sinclair recently stepped down as guest judge, ruling himself out of the Chelsea Show 2014. The gardening star, who replaced Andrew Wilson as chairman, said that his TV commitments would get in the way of the event.
Alexander-Sinclair revealed to Horticulture Week that judging would be difficult due to the close-knit nature of the gardening world. Small panels made things hard "because a lot people are involved with others in the show", with the danger of biased decisions.
New faces are needed to add more gardening professionals to the mix, with a fresh, creative eye for detail.
RHS shows head Bob Sweet said that the 2014 judges are yet to be picked, leaving plenty of time for keen volunteers to throw down their trowels and sign up.
