Gardening events like the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show are often a source of inspiration for gardeners – not necessarily only for the hugely diverse range of displays that offer hints and tips – as well as detailing some of the most on-trend plants of the moment.
These occasions are also characterised by talks from speakers – and these individuals can be anyone from seasoned chief gardeners or celebrities who are more widely known for their television experiences.
The Hampton Court Palace Flower Show – hosted by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is due to take place from July 8th to 14th and this is a great example of one of the largest events on the annual gardening calendar.
It has been announced that a raft of celebrity speakers will be taking to the podium to impart some of their gardening knowledge and anecdotes, with at least one appearance per day throughout the run.
Television favourites John Craven, Kate Humble, Tim Wonnacott, Linda Barker and Bill Oddie are among those due to give a speech at the Celebrity Speakers & Catwalk in the Bloom Theatre, which is sponsored by Anglian Home Improvements.
Mr Craven will be talking about the countryside as the largest garden in the UK, Ms Humble will be discussing plants and Mr Wonnacott will be talking about the antique valuation of certain garden tools.
Ms Barker will explain how important plants are to interior design and Mr Oddie will offer some of his tips on how to attract wildlife to a garden.
Gardener David Domoney said: "From Adam and Eve and the first fig leaf to today, plants have played a significant part in influencing clothes.
"There will be five catwalk shows a day over six days showcasing clothes, some made from plants, floral and foliage designs," he continued, adding: "The RHS flower shows set the fashions for the gardening industry and we have an amazing line-up of presenters to introduce the event on each day."
