Gardening professionals and green-fingered enthusiasts alike are being asked to participate in a survey from the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) and the University of Reading.
The goal of the research is to establish the general awareness and expectations of climate change and how it will impact on those who enjoy getting to work with their garden tools.
It was suggested that some of the challenges many individuals are expecting to face in the future include difficulties managing soil conditions in any season.
Storms and floods may become more of an issue as well – and predicted changes in flowering times could have an adverse impact on pollinators and other wildlife.
Acting head of science at the RHS John David said: "In the battle to understand better the challenges and opportunities that climate change presents, the most valuable resource we have is the millions of people who care about their gardens and the green spaces around them."
As a result, he urged anyone who thinks they may be able to help to participate.
