Battery power has leapt ahead in recent years so that today it rivals petrol power in a whole range of garden machinery.
And nowhere is this more true than in the Greenworks 40V Cordless Lawn Mower.
Now Greenworks has taken this latest technology and adapted it to the garden and this mower is one of the first in a range of products to be launched exclusively by Mowdirect.
With the obvious advantages of zero emissions and virtually silent in running this technology is the way forward in garden machinery.
This mower has the power to rival petrol models and can tackle a lawn the size of a tennis court on one charge depending on the thickness of the grass.
On continuous running it will last 20 minutes but actual use is far longer – after all the motor does not run full time when in use. And at 40 volts it is strong enough to meet all mowing challenges of the modern garden.
The mower weighs just 15 kg, amazingly light compared with petrol models and has large rear wheels for enhanced manoeuvrability.
There are seven cutting heights and a 41 cm cutting width.
It has a good sized grass box and a rear grass deflector for when cutting wet grass.
There is also a mulch plug to return the clippings to the lawn.
The lithium-ion battery is rechargeable at any time – the old problem of ‘battery memory’ meaning you had to discharge it fully before charging again – is a thing of the past.
It comes with a charging kit with an indicator and battery and costs £299, £100 less than the manufacturer’s recommended price.
Delivery is free the next working day and there is a three year maker’s warranty.
