A new pumpkin competition has been launched by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).
Amateur and professional gardeners alike are being encouraged to get to work with their garden tools in order to grow the best squash they can.
Entrants will have their pumpkins judged at the London Harvest Festival Show, which is to be held at Lindley Hall in Westminster from October 9th to the 10th.
The competition could become quite heated, as pumpkins have been the subject of some controversy among gardening communities.
Last October, trainee teacher Ben Carcamo was to be evicted from his allotment plot in the north-west of England, which he attributed to envy of his 30 kilogram pumpkins.
This could be a decent size, but RHS competition manager Georgina Barter claimed she expects some solid entries.
"We're expecting some really huge pumpkins at the show, making Halloween 2012 spookier than ever," she remarked.
The winner will receive a prize of £1,000, with second and third place getting £500 and £200 respectively.
