As I’ve already mentioned elsewhere on this Blog, when we began MowDIRECT almost ten years ago you could count the number of websites selling lawnmowers on one hand. How many are there now? Twenty? Thirty? Fifty!? I’m not sure and I haven’t counted recently but there are a lot. One thing we have learnt over that period is that very few have stayed the course. There appears to be a significant element that come and go, making an appearance for a few years before withering away. Actually I’m not surprised by that. Running an online business well is like running any business – the fundamentals are the same. You need good people, you need well thought out structures to ensure things run smoothly and you need to invest in developing and growing your business to improve the service you offer. You may have guessed where I’m heading here. Its no coincidence that a lot of the sites that have disappeared from the market place were either operating on the barest of margins or one suspects running their businesses from computers in bedrooms with no back up or support of any kind for their customers. At MowDIRECT we take great pride in the fact that we have both dedicated customer support staff should you have a problem and a fully equipped workshop to back up any of the products we sell. Spending several hours to get through on the phone to someone or waiting several days for them to get back to you over an issue suddenly makes that one pound saving here or two pound saving there less attractive. And yes, believe it or not, there are sites out there that will deliberately put there prices a pound or even fifty pence below ours on a five hundred pound lawnmower so that they can say they are the cheapest. We’ve found sites where the content is barely legible and product write-ups riddled with grammatical errors, but hey, these guys figure, we’re a pound below MowDIRECT so someone’s got to buy from us. And I guess some people do. And I suppose some people won’t worry about the content of a site if they can get what they perceive – although often wrongly as it happens – is the best deal. But that isn’t our approach. We’ll continues to run our exclusive deals and special offers on all types of garden machinery from lawnmowers to hedgetrimmers and brushcutters to chainsaws and on any items sold we will always be amongst the cheapest and sometimes will be the very cheapest. What we’re much more concerned about however is that you get the product that’s right for you and that you are satisfied with your purchase and our service. We put as much effort as we can into answering any questions you may have about a product by providing the most detailed and comprehensive product write-ups of any company selling lawnmowers and garden machinery online. And if you don’t find the answer you’re looking for on our website, we have experienced and knowledgeable sales people who will be able to offer you free, unbiased advice on what product might be best for you. That way you get something that’s going to get the job done as well as save you money – and that surely has to be the best deal there is?
