New Cultivators & Tillers for 2008: MTD Cultivator / Tiller Range

If you’re looking for a new cultivator – or tiller as they are sometimes known – to turn over the vegetable garden in preparation for the coming growing season then this new range of cultivators and tillers from MTD could provide you with the answer. New for 2008, we are able to offer a full range of models from this world leading manufacturer with a choice of cultivators and tillers available for vegetable gardens and allotments both large and small.

There are several things we really like about these cultivators/tillers. The first is that they come with worm drive systems. The advantage of worm drives over the belt or chain drive systems found on most cultivators/tillers is that they deliver much higher levels of torque. These MTD cultivators and tillers will therefore make easier work of your vegetable plot particularly if your garden or allotment contains more compacted soil types such as clay. They will also experience less wear and tear than those cultivators/tillers with alternative drive systems. The second thing we really like about these MTD cultivators/tillers is the engines. Each model is equipped with an advanced Over Head Valve four-stoke petrol engine manufactured by MTD specifically for their products. Not only are they ideally suited for these machines but also they offer a long working life, increased fuel efficiency to keep down running costs and best of all lower emissions to help keep down your carbon foot print in the garden. At MowDIRECT we have long supported the introduction of advanced forms of technologies to help reduce emissions and with these MTD tillers/cultivators you can really do that. Another thing we really like about these tillers/cultivators is their incredible versatility with the two larger-sized models in the range coming supplied with crop-protection discs and a range of working widths to suit the job at hand – great and just what you need.

So what are the individual models in the new MTD range of garden cultivators and tillers for 2008? The entry level model, designed for turning over top soil on flowerbeds and smaller sized vegetable plots, is the MTD T205 Garden Tiller/Cultivator. This is a real stand out model as it as the best features of any tiller or cultivator in its class. There are many different products available within the sub-£300 mini-tiller category but the MTD T205 Tiller/Cultivator has the largest tilling width (40cm/16″) and the most powerful engine (4.5hp) of any of them. We think it’s a real winner and the sales office informs us that it is already showing signs of becoming our most popular tiller/cultivator in this price range. Next comes what is probably the most well designed, feature packed front-tine tiller/cultivator on the market today. The MTD T245 Garden Tiller/Cultivator really does have everything you could want for a medium sized vegetable plot. We did actually launch this model last year and it has become our most popular tiller/cultivator for allotment owners. Why? Well, the fold down handles make it compact enough to fit in the back of most cars and there is a front wheel fitted as standard so it is easy to transport both to the allotment and between car and vegetable patch. It also has great features – worm drive and a powerful yet low emitting OHV engine as discussed above plus an adjustable depth bar and steel shield to protect against stones and dust. Best of all though it has three separate tilling widths making it suitable for cultivating between rows as well as turning over the soil at the start of the year. Finally, the top-of-the-range front-tine tiller from MTD is the new MTD T380 Garden Tiller/Cultivator. Suitable for large-sized vegetable gardens or maybe as a joint purchase for your allotment though your local allotment society, the MTD T380 has three separate tilling widths with a maximum setting of 81cm. That’s plenty enough to handle large-sized areas with ease and ensure you get the job done quickly. One of the additional features on this larger-sized tiller/cultivator not found on the other two models in the range is the reverse drive system. This enables you to till down deeper without getting stuck and makes the tiller far more manoeuvrable. As well as having a ton of great features it is also on special offer at MowDIRECT making it one of the lowest priced front-tine tillers on the market with both forward and reverse drive. And remember, buy online today this or any model from the new range of MTD Tillers & Cultivators and receive FREE next working day delivery.
