Mighty Mac Chipper-shredders, Dethatchers, Tillers – New range for 2008

New for 2008, MowDIRECT are pleased to announce the launch of the Mighty Mac range of garden products from US manufacturer Mackissic. Mighty Mac offer an extensive line-up of robust petrol powered garden equipment including petrol engine chippers-shredders, professional quality dethatchers and the well know Merry Tiller range of garden cultivators. Some of you may have been familiar with these products in their previous incarnation as the Allen Mighty Mac Chipper-Shredders or the Allen Turf Doctor. The Merry Tiller has also been sold in the UK for many decades and is a well known brand among vegetable growers and allotment owners.

Sadly, Allen Power Equipment, the British company which imported these products into the UK for many years was wound-up in 2006 after almost 140 years of trading. Allen were one of those great innovative British companies who were always looking at how advances in technology might be employed to help reduce everyday chores such as those involved in maintaining a garden. Their earliest innovation in the field of garden machinery was the Allen Scythe – the first self-propelled motorized scythe being introduced by Allen in 1934. There are still examples of this wonderful machine working today – over 70 years since it was first produced – and it has seen whole industry grow up in its wake with Scythe Mowers of the kind pioneered by Allen now being used across Europe. Other innovations from Allen included the first garden sweeper in 1954 and the first nylon line-trimmer in 1973.

The new Mighty Mac range starts where Allen left off and continues to offer homeowners a robust and reliable product at a reasonable price. Among the most popular products of their kind, the Mighty Mac petrol chipper-shredders are great for larger-sized gardens where there are big quantities of leaves and pruning waste from shrubs, bushes and trees to dispose of. The mulch produced by these chipper-shredders is great for composting and can be mixed with other waste items such as raw fruit and vegetable scraps, fresh grass clippings, tea bags and coffee grounds. Also in the new line-up, the Mighty Mac Lawn Doctor Dethatchers offer homeowners and commercial gardeners a professional standard petrol powered lawn rake – essential for maintaining a green and healthy appearance on well maintained lawns. One of the unique features about these dethatcher rakes which we really like is the heavy-duty nylon tines they employ – this makes not only incredibly safe to use but also much quieter than a traditional steel-tine dethatcher or scarifier. If you have an in-built irrigation system to water your lawn you will also find the Might Mac Turf Doctor is by far the better option as it eliminates the risk of damaging any protruding components. Finally the Mighty Mac Merry Tiller offers a robust, heavy-duty front-tine cultivator for use in the garden, at the allotment or out on a job if you are a professional gardener. These hard wearing petrol tillers have been tirelessly at work in British gardens for decades and it is still possible to find some of the original models still in use. As many people have discovered, an investment in a Merry Tiller often has proved to be an investment for life.
