Swedish lawn tractors made to tackle the biggest gardens

Anyone with a larger garden with small field and paddocks as well as orchards will know the time these take to keep neat and tidy, a near-impossible job without a lawn tractor.

Stiga, a Swedish garden machinery company found in 1934, manufactures an extensive range of top quality ride-ons and lawn tractors and here are three to give you a taste.

The Stiga Combi 1066 HQ Ride-On Lawnmower has a 66cm cutting width and has hydrostatic transmission which works much like an automatic car.

A Briggs & Stratton 223cc engine provides the power and it has a very tight turning circle ideal for getting around garden furniture and small trees.

There are six cutting heights and a 150 litre grass box which can be emptied from the driver’s seat. And there is a useful safety which cuts the engine when you leave the driver’s seat.

This ride-on is suitable for lawns up to 3000m2.

It costs £1499, £100 less than the maker’s recommended price and is delivered within five to seven working days. It has a two-year warranty.

The Stiga Estate 5092 H Lawn Tractor is a stronger machine with a Briggs & Stratton engine and is fitted with a Contraflow cutting deck with twin counter-rotating blades.

It can be used to mulch the clippings as well as collect them and the deck is designed to create a strong airflow so that it can collect wet grass as well as dry.

Again, it has hydrostatic drive and has seven cutting heights from 25mm to 80mm. The grass box holds 260 litres and buzzes at you when it’s full.

And twin headlights keep you working when it gets murky. The cutting width is 92cm making it suitable for lawns up to 8000m2.

It costs £2099, £200 off the maker’s recommended price and has a two year warranty.

And the Stiga Villa 14 HST Mulching Ride-On Lawnmower is made for the biggest lawns and with this one you can chose the size of cutting deck you want.

It has a 344cc Briggs& Stratton engine with hydrostatic transmission which gives terrific power and is low on emissions.

The front-mounted cutting deck gives an excellent cut and a spinner on the steering wheel makes it fast and easy to get round trees and other garden obstacles.

The robust steel chassis has a ten year warranty.

You can chose which cutting deck you want from 85cm and 95 cm and the 95cm one can be either manual or electronic engagement.

The tractor costs £2104 compared with the recommended price of £2285 and it has a three year warranty.

It is delivered free within five to eight working days.
