Smaller lawn? Here are three mowers which will fit the bill

The sun’s out, well for some, the weather’s a bit warmer and the grass is growing.

If you’ve snipped off the straggly bits you can see that it’s growing strongly you can lower the cutting height a smidgeon but don’t cut it too low, there’s still time for snow and frosts!

Many of you have smaller lawns and prefer a quieter mower and these little electric machines make less noise and also there are no smelly fumes either.

So if you prefer an electrically-powered machine here are three for the smaller lawn, quiet, light to handle and very efficient.

The Mountfield Princess 42 Electric 4 Wheel Rear Roller Lawnmower has a 1800 Watt motor and a 42 cm cutting width so it can easily cut lawns up to around 14 sq metres.

This is a machine which lets you collect clippings in the grass box, discharge them at the rear or mulch them down to tea leaf sized pieces when they fall to the lawn and provide a useful fertilizer.

There are six cutting heights from 25 to 75 mm and the front deck has a grass comb which prevents scalping and gives a more even cut.

It is delivered free the next working day with 15 metres of cable and costs £149, £40 off the recommended price. There is a two year warranty with this mower.

Another favourite manufacturer is Hayter and their Envoy Electric Rear-Roller Lawn Mower is a cracking little mower suited to smaller lawns.

With a 36 cm cutting width and split rear roller it is suitable for smaller lawns, say about half the size of a tennis court and this one will cut right down to 13 mm.

A split rear roller makes it easy to navigate and leaves a beautiful striped finish. Again there are front find to smooth the grass before it is cut in order to leave a better, smother finish.

This one costs £159, £40 less than the recommended price and is delivered free the next working day complete with a two year warranty from Hayter.

And this one from the same stable will tackle medium sized lawns with its 16 in cutting width.

The Hayter Spirit 41 Electric Rear Roller Mower has a 55 litre grass box, front smoothing fins and a 1500 Watt motor make this a really excellent mower.

You can take the grass box off if mowing and area of longer grass.

The rear roller gives leaves enviable stripes and it has seven cutting heights right down to 13 mm. It comes with 17 metres of cable.

This one costs £229, £60 less than the recommended price and it comes delivered the next working for free and with a three year warranty.
