Lawn tractors are worth their weight in gold and here are three from top manufacturer Mountfield with whom we are an on-line partner.

This next one is one, the Mountfield 1430M Lawn Tractor, is one of the most popular machines with an 84 cm cutting width and has two blades for a cleaner cut and better grass collection even when it’s wet.

Cutting heights are from 25 mm up to 80 mm and the grass box can hold 240 litres and emits a bleep when it is full.

The 432 cc engine has a proper oil pump to give it a longer life through better lubrication and has five forward gears and one reverse.

The fuel tank can hold six litres and the tractor is designed to be simple and comfortable to drive with a padded seat which is adjustable.

The deck is electronically engaged which saves time and you can buy a deflector kit to deal with the longer grass; you can also get a mulch plug.

It costs £1599, £200 less than the maker’s recommended retail price and is delivered free within two to three working days. And with this tractor there is a free front bumper in case a tree should jump out in front of you.

There is a two year warranty from Mountfield and a host of optional extras.

And one for people with larger grounds to care for.

The Mountfield 3000SH Lawn Tractor has an 82 cm cutting width with a twin-bladed cutter deck to provide excellent airflow.

This one has a 389 cc Honda engine to give excellent fuel consumption and fewer emissions and is designed with automatic decompression to make it really easy to start.

It has hydrostatic transmission to give more precise speed control and cutting heights are from 25mm up to 80 mm.

The grass box can hold 240 litres and again has an adjustable, sprung seat to make using it over long periods more comfortable.

A deck wash facility means it is really easy to clean after use – just plug in the garden hose and run the engine.

You can also but a deflector kit and mulch plug if you wash – the deflector kit is really useful for dealing with larger areas of long grass.

Again there is a wide range of attachments you can buy, like tow bars, trailers and leaf sweepers.
