The Royal Horticultural Society's (RHS) Lindley Hall harvest festival is set to give visitors the chance to see the result of farmers' work over the last 12 months.
Attendees at the central London event will be able to take part in more than 130 classes that will help green-fingered enthusiasts to learn to grow better vegetables in their back garden or on an allotment.
Everything from grapes and apples to pears and turnips will be covered in tutorials by experts at the RHS, so this is something that no London-dwelling veggie-enthusiast will want to miss out on.
There will also be, as is custom at harvest events, a giant pumpkin competition and it will display the biggest orange goliaths grown by school children from across the capital.
Robin Grey, a local folk singer, will provide music for the event and a number of other entertainers will be on hand to keep everyone happy and jovial.
But for those looking for something a little more serious, there will be advanced lessons on foraging and these will take place with all other courses on October 8th and 9th between 18:00 and 21:00.
Some people are worried about doing something illegal when picking for seafood in coastal areas or collecting berries from hedgerows, but a number of ancient laws – including some in the Magna Carta – secure every Briton's right to eat food from public areas.
But although bushes and roadside topiary can be a great resource for hungry foragers, they can be difficult to manage for all but the most patient gardeners.
