Splitting Wood the Easy Way with a Powered Log Splitter

Don’t be lulled into a false sense of security, winter’s on its way and soon we’ll all be firing up the wood burner to supplement the central heating.

So there isn’t a better time to start work on the old pile of logs you’ve had in the corner of the garden for ages and get them ready for burning.

The sooner they are split and stored in the dry the better. Even though the days are shortening there is still enough heat to take some of the moisture out of the split wood to make it better for burning.

Splitting crisp old oak with an axe is fine when the grain is straight but a real bind otherwise.

In fact the only tool that will really do the job is a modern log splitter. Have a look on our site and you will see the huge range of models available. And the certainty is that once your neighbour knows you’ve got one of these tools he (or she) will soon be round seeing if you’ll lend it to them!

Here at Mowdirect we have three special deals on Einhell splitters which we think you will find unbeatable.

The BT-LS 44 is an electrically powered splitter which still has real power and is on sale at the very special price of £179, a massive saving on the recommended retail price of £399.

It has a splitting force of four tons and can deal with logs up to 37 cm

long with a diameter of 25 cm.

Quiet to use, easy to operate and move around – it has special transport wheels – it has free next day delivery and a two year manufacturer’s warranty.

A level up from that is the BT-LS 65U which exerts more pressure and can deal with bigger logs. It also has a limiter device to protect the motor from being damaged and a safety control system to keep hands away from the splitting parts of the machine.

This model is just £229.95, again a massive saving on the recommended price of £429.99.

And the next level up again is a vertical machine, the BT-LS 610, with a six ton splitting force to deal with really big boughs and trunks.

It has a height adjustable steel work bench and is a serious machine for serious gardeners and small estates.

Again, the machine has a two year warranty and can be delivered free within two to three working days.

At a price of £399.94 it shows a massive saving on the manufacturer’s recommended price of £699.99.

Another manufacturer whose log splitters are proving very popular is Lawnflite and their LS65P is a really powerful petrol-powered machine.

They are more versatile than one electrically powered as they can go anywhere on the larger garden or estate.

Powered by a Briggs and Stratton 6.5 hp motor it exerts seven tonnes of force, enough to cut through the toughest twisted wood.

It has an adjustable base plate which can be changed to suit the size of logs available and has enhanced safety features.

The Mowdirect price of £699 shows a saving of £170 on the manufacturer’s recommended selling price.

And a final note. With the recent burst of sunshine the lawns have suddenly sprung into life again, so keep an eye on our site for some extra special sale bargains on lawnmowers rather than put purchasing one off to next year.

Remember, VAT increases in the New Year so you could make a healthy saving.
