Deals of the Week: Garden Shredders with Free Wheelbarrows

Just in, we have limited stock of two models of Ryobi garden shredders both available with free wheel barrows! These two shredders are amongst our top deals of the week and offer you the choice a standard impact type shredder – an excellent choice for the smaller garden – or a specially designed ‘quiet’ shredder which will comfortably handle larger quantities of waste and is ideal for larger sized gardens.

What’s the difference between an impact shredder and a ‘quiet’ shredder or what is referred to by some garden shredder manufacturers as a ‘silent’ shredder? Essentially the difference is in the cutting mechanism used to shred the waste. Impact garden shredders will use one or more blades set at an angle on a circular plate. The plate rotates, powered by an electric motor or petrol engine, and waste is shredded by impacting against the blades as you feed it down through the hopper. On silent or quiet type shredders your garden waste is crushed, squeezed and shredded by the rotational action of a sharp metal cog which pulls (or self-feeds) the waste down through a narrow gap between it and a wedge on the side of the shredder. The cog cuts and chops into the waste and most importantly can operate at a much slower speed than the impact style of shredder. The result is a gentle hum as the waste goes through as opposed to the high pitched thrashing sound impact shredders make – ideal if you have neighbours to consider or just want something a bit easier on the ears.

Having said that, if do just have a small sized garden and limited amounts of waste it probably does make more sense to invest in the impact type shredder as you will only be using it for short periods of time and at £50 cheaper it represents a more sensible investment.

As mentioned above there are two models available from leading brand Ryobi with free wheel barrows while stocks last. The Ryobi ESR-2240 Electric ‘Impact’ Shredder is available for just £99.95 and comes with the free wheel barrow – representing a whopping saving of over £40 on the R.R.P.! The Ryobi RSH-2455 Quiet Garden Shredder, designed to handle more waste in larger sized gardens, also with free wheel barrow is available for just £149.95 saving you over £70 on the recommended retail price! The wheel barrow itself is lightweight and can be hung on the wall for compact storage.
