Chipperfield HCTS Scythe Bar Attachment
Some ground defeats a mower before you have crossed it. Paddock grass gone to seed, nettle beds, a meadow cut once a year, an orchard floor that has had a full season to itself — a rotary deck clogs, bogs and throws material everywhere. The HCTS scythe bar attachment turns your Chipperfield two-wheel tractor into the machine that ground actually needs.
A scythe bar cuts on a completely different principle. Dual reciprocating blades work like shears, slicing stems cleanly at the base rather than beating them apart at speed. There is no deck to pack with wet grass and no discharge chute to block, so the bar keeps cutting in tall, damp and tangled material long after a rotary mower would have stopped for clearing.
Cut it, then leave it
The material is laid down neatly in a swathe behind the machine rather than shredded and scattered. That is what you want on rough land: leave it to dry and bale it, rake it off, or let it break down where it falls. It also means no collector to empty every few minutes — on a paddock, that alone changes the length of the job.
Wide cut, low pass
The bar cuts a wide swathe close to the base of the growth, so overgrown areas come back under control in a few passes instead of being nibbled at. Working off the tractor's own power and wheel traction, it drives through dense growth on ground where a hand-held brushcutter would have you there all weekend.
Compatibility
Fits the Chipperfield HCT270P and HCT296D two-wheel tractors via the standard PTO attachment system. Note that the HCT270P is also sold with a scythe bar already included — buy this attachment on its own if you own an HCT296D, if you bought your tractor without a bar, or if you want a spare to keep sharp and swap in mid-job.
Pairs naturally with the HCTC cultivator attachment: cut the ground back with the scythe, then work the soil with the cultivator using the same power unit.
