Aerators to give the lawn a healthier start as Spring arrives
Lawns are not exactly looking their best at the moment after the recent freezing weather and need help in letting moisture and nutrients into the root mass below the top growth.
The MD 32T Tow-Behind Spike Aerator has eight start-shaped spiked wheels each with eight points which penetrate the soil up 50 mm. It has a working width of 75 cm and is the perfect way to treat larger lawns quickly and efficiently.
The rubber tyres are patterned to give good grip and won’t harm the lawn while it is being towed.
It is simply attached to the lawn tractor or ride-on with a pin hitch.
It costs £89 and is delivered free the next working day and has a two year manufacturer’s warranty.
The MD 48T Tow-Behind Plug Aerator is a bigger machine, 1.2 metres wide which has 32 hollow points for taking out a small plug from the lawn, loosening the soul and letting light and moisture as well as nutrients to penetrate the soil.
Plug aerators are especially useful in more compacted, heavier soils like clay. This one has 32 hollow points and they can be raised when moving from spot to spot and then lowered when you want to start work.
There is a flat tray on top of the aerator on which you can put weights like concrete blocks if you want deeper penetration. This tray can take a maximum of 63.6 kg.
Rubber tyres are patterned to give traction and will not damage the lawn.
This machine costs £149 and arrives boxed the next working day delered free.
There is a two year maker’s warranty.
