Gardening can get kids eating healthy foods

Encouraging kids to reach for the garden tools on the weekend can have a huge number of benefits for them.
Not only will it allow them to get plenty of exercises and fill their lungs with fresh air – it will also teach them numerous lessons about food.
In fact, cultivating a veg patch can get children eating more healthily.
Speaking to the Denver Post, Mike Ferraro, an expert in getting children into the garden, said: "If a child grows herbs or vegetables, they will try them at least once."
"When they're done, [they'll be] so proud of [what they have grown] they [will] want to eat it," he told the news provider.
And a vegetable patch doesn't even need to take up that much space.
According to Tim Rumball, editor of Amateur Gardening magazine, growing veg can easily be combined with the cultivation of other plants and flowers.
Gardening in a small space also makes the process infinitely cheaper.
