A pictorial guide to the main features of a chainsaw

A chainsaw has a great many features, some of which are obvious, some not. 

The image below is a picture of a high quality Stihl chainsaw. Manufacturers do vary in their placement of components but the basics are generally fairly standard.

Some chainsaws offer tool-less chain tensioning. This is usually carried out with a knob as in the image below
