“My Mower Won’t Start!” A 4-point guide to basic problems

1. Make sure you have not left fuel in it for over 30 days. Stale fuel can cause your mower to seize up and it is the most common reason we encounter for mowers not starting.

2. Check the spark plugs. They may need changing just like the plugs in a car

3. Make sure the machine has not been tipped over as oil may have leaked into the filter or exhaust, preventing the mower from starting and may mean you need a new filter.

4. Check your carburettor and make sure it is clean (stale fuel, for example, can dirty a carburettor and stop it from working)

5. Make sure you have topped the tank up properly and the mower is both fully fuelled and oiled.
