Recent developments in lithium-ion technology means that these type of pruners are now challenging traditional powered pruners and are a viable alternative.

Battery powered cordless pruners should have a powerful, short to charge, long to run battery, probably Li-Ion or maybe Ni-Cad. 

They will tend to be low vibration and low noise and should be lightweight and comfortable to use.
