How noisy are petrol hedgetrimmers?

Most petrol hedgetrimmers are fitted with 2-stroke engines, and, therefore, will produce more noise than electric hedgetrimmers or a four-stroke petrol engine. 

 

However, these engines are relatively small and, added to this, the maximum noise output is rarely going to be a nuisance, as you are unlikely to have the machine at full throttle for long periods

 

Even so, it is always advisable to use ear protectors/earmuffs when using any power tools, including petrol hedgetrimmers, as you will be working in close proximity to the machine.
