Mountfield SP533 Self-Propelled 3-in-1 Petrol Lawn Mower (Special Offer)
Product Review (submitted on 8 May 2014):
When my previous Mountfield mower fell apart after only 6 years I decided never again to purchase another machine from the same manufacturer. The special offer from MowDirect was however too tempting so I bought a new SP533. I used it for the first time this week and my once beautiful lawn has now got a series of scuffed edges.
This machine would be ideal for large expanses of grass such as a school field but it is no use if you have a lawn with nicely trimed edges. The problem is that the powered rear wheels suddenly flop over the edges if you carry out a linear cut - the machine then suddenly wanders off into the flower beds.
This is a major design fault as the rear wheels should have been positioned at the same centres as those at the front. The only way to cut lawn edges is to attack them at a 30 degree angle that is time consuming to say the least. My other concern is that the grass box is attached with PLASTIC lugs - I wonder how long these will last before they snap off?
This has been a very bad purchase!
