- Al-Ko T16-92HD Twin-Cylinder Lawn Tractor

Al-Ko T16-92HD Twin-Cylinder Lawn Tractor This ride-on was delivered assembled by MowDirect and I could find no fault with it.
Having used it 3 times now I am delighted with the ease with which it can be driven and performs. The reverse pedal takes a bit of getting used to, but once mastered is excellent, because it allows you to switch between forward and back intuitively whilst doing something else, such as emptying the grass box.
The automatic cut-out for the mower blades when reverse is engaged is another excellent facility, which allows precise manoeuvring without being tempted to reverse whilst the blades are turning.
The grass bag is large and very easy to empty, and the audible alarm when full immediately attracts your attention and, if reacted to quickly, avoids over filling. The only slight criticism was the apparent flimsiness of the engine cover and the difficulty in opening it. Otherwise, this is a fine machine, which has worked very well so far and has resulted in smartly cut lawns. Now I will add a mulching kit and see how that works. - Fantastic Machine

Fantastic Machine I guess any review of a machine will depend on what you have had before. I have struggled for 12 years to cut my half an acre with a ride-on that did not like wet grass/long grass .....just about any grass!
So it was with trepidation that I took delivery of my new Al-Ko and went to do the first cut of the season. The grass was slightly damp and 10 inches long. The smile on my face grew as this machine ploughed through the grass without a hiccup. It collects the grass incredibly well. It cuts at a fantastic speed, it manoeuvres so easily. I generated 25 bags of grass in my half a day cutting. This task in the past would have taken me several days. Wow! Couldn't be happier.
If you want any negativity the bodywork is good quality plastic, not steel, and reverse gear is a bit of a crawl but for me, this is no problem. Great engine, great manoeuvrability, great cutting, easy emptying enough said! - Starts first Time, Cuts the Lawn, but....
-
Starts first Time, Cuts the Lawn, but.... The mower pretty much does what it says on the tin. There are a couple of niggles though. Firstly, the tyres are tubeless - this means they're a pain to repair and get back on the rims in the event of a puncture (I've had the mower two weeks and already had two punctures) - unless you have a compressor for the high volume of air you need to re-seat the repaired tyres, forget about repairing them yourself. Much better to get some inner tubes (and, probably, a set of tyre liners) which means repairs can easily be done at home.
The second niggle is that they're designed for the average height person. I'm 6'1" and I have to stoop down to the steering wheel while sitting down. A slightly higher (10cm would be more than enough) steering wheel would have made the machine much easier to use. - Excellent Tool

Excellent Tool As other reviews stated, not so easy to get off the pallet, advise you have another person to help.
The free trailer was something I didn't think I would need however have used countless times. The tractor cuts really nicely and have purchased the mulch plug attachment which is very useful if you keep on top of the grass length. The cleaning of deck with hose is very useful. Safety systems work well, overall very pleased.
Works really well on our lawn, wish we had bought one sooner. - Very Impressed
-
Very Impressed I have a large garden and also mow part of a field for a number of reasons. I'm very pleased with the performance of the Al-Ko. It's much more powerful than the SImplicity ride-on I had before. It also gives a more even cut and mows wet grass well.
I use the collector most of the time on the lawn and use the deflector when mowing the field. I have used the mulch plug on my lawns but it needs to be fairly short to avoid clumping - but no complaints.
It came fully assembled and ready to go, although I had problems as it was a kerbside delivery and the large lorry could't get close to our house. Managed to arrange delivery to a local firm and drove the 500 yards home.
Customer service have been very helpful at all times - something you worry about with internet low-price companies. As a bonus the trailer was also better than I expected. - Lovely Machine

Lovely Machine First lawn tractor I've bought so I don't have anything to compare against. It seems to have all the features we need but could it have more? Maybe something to compress the grass in the collector because we seem to fill it very quickly.
We have a field, (lumpy, very long grass, nettles and docks) which we hope to turn into a lawn or somewhere we can picnic and play. The mower has proved up to the job. The anti-scalping wheels ensure we don't gouge chunks out when we roll over the lumpy bits.
It is wonderfully easy to use. Lovely smooth ride, easy speed control and excellent cutting, except when we have driven over very long grass at speed and blocked the blower channel. Had a couple of events like that. Clearing the channel is easy enough (I advise you to wear gloves if you have nettles, I didn't and paid the price) but both times it took a bit of to'ing and fro'ing to persuade the cutters to start up again. Go slower over grass a foot long and it is fine.
The safety features ensure that our grandson (who is into everything) cannot drive it on his own as he's too short to reach the pedals and stay on the seat - excellent.
It is quite noisy. It can be difficult to attract the attention of the driver when they cannot see you.
All of the setting up of the tractor was done beforehand so it was pretty much ready to go on delivery but I did spend an hour hacking at the delivery pallet to get it off. The pallet isn't quite the same as the one described in the manual so it took a little interpretation of the instructions before we could roll off safely. Also, the quick set-up instructions attached to the mower weren't needed as the work had already been done by MowDirect (oil in the engine, attaching wheels, battery, steering wheel etc). One thing missing from the set-up list was how to (dis-) engage the hydrostatic drive. It was delivered in disengaged mode which you need in order to roll the mower off the pallet. It took a bit of leafing through the instruction book to realise we had to re-engage it before we could drive the mower. Lucky for us that you don't need it engaged to use the brakes as our first action was to roll down a hill!
I've read reviews complaining about the use of plastic instead of steel for the mower's body but I cannot see this is a problem (less likely to rust) unless you are in the habit of driving into immovable objects.
Overall, we love it and thoroughly recommend it to anyone with a big lawn or small field. - Excellent Machine.

Excellent Machine. I recently bought this machine after comparing it with others in the same size and price bracket. In my view this is the best machine in the bracket.
The machine is easy to use, very well built and does a great job. I wish I had bought one of these before instead of struggling with my previous" heap of the week" type mower. The only thing that is missing , is there is not a front bumper.
All I can say is get one if you can. - Excellent

- A Pleasure to Use

A Pleasure to Use A very simple machine to use, having all the features you would need on a top-quality mower.
- Quality and design combined
-
Quality and design combined One rarely finds such attributes together nowadays. The design incorporates all those features I have missed on previous mowers, and the build quality is to be commended.
Add to that the rare and efficient sales service offered by MowDirect on line and it has been a pleasure to do business !
