The premium-quality Redback E146CV Cordless Lawnmower is the result of a development-partnership between Redback and MowDirect and has been designed to provide gardeners with all the power of petrol, but with less noise and vibration, and no emissions, maintenance-hassle or starting-trouble.
That petrol-equivalent performance is down to its high-output 40v (4Ah) EP40 lithium-ion battery-pack; a cutting-edge unit that offers class-leading charge- and run-times; and which won’t drain during storage, as is the case with lower-spec lead-acid and nickel-cadmium cells.
The Redback E146CV is one of the most versatile cordless lawnmowers yet produced, with its four cutting-modes - bagging; mulching; rear-discharge; side-discharge - ensuring you’ll have no problem adapting to condition-changes as the growing-season progresses.
It offers five preset cutting-heights that not only only help you to manage different grass-lengths, but also make it possible to fine-tune the finish; and it’s fitted with a a high-grade brushless DC motor for high-torque operation and superior longevity.
Thanks to its rear-wheel self-propulsion, the Redback E146CV will prove a great choice if you have a sloping lawn, especially if it contains areas of rough, tussocky ground that would be tough to cover with a hand-propelled model.
An extra-roomy 60-litre grassbag works with a substantial 46cm cutting-width to ensure you’ll get round a larger lawn with speed and efficiency; while a ‘bag full’ indicator-flap lets you know when the collector’s at capacity so you can stop mowing before the chute gets blocked.
The handlebar on the Redback E146CV Self-Propelled Cordless Lawnmower can be height-adjusted to suit the operator; and is foldable for space-saving storage.
Also of note are the simple single-lever height-of-cut adjustment system and the the large, manoeuvrability-enhancing drive-wheels.

The Future but Not There YetReview by Paul / (Posted on 12/08/2019)Electric Mowers are th future, imagine how quiet Sunday's in suburbia will be when the petrol lawnmower is confined to history. I made the jump to battery-power when a back injury stopped me being able to use my trusted petrol mower, I thought the technology would be mature enough now to be a direct and improved replacement.
The mower turned up quickly and was fairly easy to assemble though the instructions were tiny and very poor, not even mentioning the mulching plug or how to get the collector working. The mower was easy to use, selecting cutting heights simple, the handle is pretty uncomfortable to hold and depress if your hands are not strong and the self-propulsion only has one speed, fast or stop, which makes control at lawn edges difficult.
The power is less than a petrol, long or damp grass will make it cut out straight away but my biggest issue was with the stated run time on a battery charge. They claimed 50 minutes on the website (this has since been changed to "up to" 50 minutes) but the most I got on dry short grass was under 20 minutes. If it is damp or you have left it for a week or so the cutting time can go down to 10 minutes.
MowDirect kindly sent me an additional battery which also lasted the same amount of time but between the two of them it is enough time to cut my small lawn. In summary, it is the future, seems well made, though underpowered and not very controllable, with very poor battery life. Does the job with the 2 batteries and fairly good value compared to other makes.
Good service from MowDirect.
