Description

If you have a small urban-, suburban- or village-garden and you need a compact, efficient and quiet-running electric lawnmower, then this stylish 34cm machine from Mountfield ticks all the boxes and a few more.

The Princess 34 Electric 4-Wheel Roller Lawnmower is easy to use and is packed full of features, some of which are unusual on a lawnmower in this affordable price bracket.

Features like single-point cutting-height adjustment, which is a top-notch time-saving feature you don’t always find on a mains-electric lawnmowers. The cutting-height variation offers you five positions from 25mm up to 75mm for flexibility; while a roller at the rear will produce the smart striped finish you're looking for.

A powerful 1400w motor drives the Mountfield Princess 34. It's a high quality brushless induction model, which delivers enhanced and efficient performance with low noise and fewer wearing parts. Also, as with all mains lawnmowers, there are no emissions and no real maintenance issues to worry about.

A 35-litre grass collector is included, which is lightweight and simple to detach, ensuring emptying causes no stress or strain. The collector has a hard top to keep dust down in dry weather and can be removed for rear discharge directly onto the lawn surface.

The Princess 34 has an ergonomic bail-arm to control the power to the cutting deck, and a safety-release switch ensures that the blades stop within seconds when the bail arm is released.

The handlebars are foldable, allowing hassle-free storage and transport.

Smooth-running wheels help the Princess 34 glide over the grass; and this compact but powerful mower is supplied with 15-metres of mains cable and comes with a 2-year warranty.

  • Efficient and quiet, brushless induction motor
  • Single point, lever controlled, cutting height adjustment

Quality Mower I was recommended a Mountfield by a lawnmower repair shop, after my Bosch's spindle melted and couldn't be replaced - Mow Direct had the best price and availability. As others have said theres a few issues with the assembly - the diagrams in the book are not especially clear but just use your instinct and you can't go far wrong. I too had an issue with the collection basket but found long handled pliers helped.

I've only used it the once so far and not gauged the cutting heights yet (2 or 3 seems about right), and it feels solid and well made ( a little bit heavier and quieter than my previous Bosch) and feels like it will last many years - would recommend this mower absolutely.

Hope this helps your decision.

"At last" a mower that does the job without mess I have had several Mountfield mowers over the years but last year a cloud must have come over my brain and i bought a Flymo. Apart from the noise it would take me an hour to clean up after the cutting the lawn. Having cut my losses i have now bought this Mountfield Princess 34 and
after two uses i feel back in my comfort zone again.
I found it easy to assemble and a nice weight for me in my eighties. The leaver height adjustment
is so easy and i have cut both my lawns in record time with what i consider to be a pleasing finish
with no mess to clear afterwards. Well done Mountfield.

Value for money! This is a neat, light machine. It is easy to assemble and easy to use. It made a good job of mowing our gardens - effective and efficient machine. The instruction book could be improved. There is no ‘parts list’ this would have been very useful for checking off the items we received. We have struggled to place the grey mulching paddle as a result of poor instruction. Overall, we are pleased with the machine and delighted with the service !

Good product, works well Delivered in good time, although there were no assembly instructions included, this was managed relatively problem free, although I was left with a piece of grey plastic resembling some sort of handle, that I have absolutely no idea where it may fit, (Any ideas ?) having said that, the machine works perfectly, and seems to be good value for money.

Little bit more cash for a far superior mower Very pleased with this mower. Bought for my mother so needed to be light weight and small. But I also wanted it to be good build quality. This ticks all the boxes. The body and frame are well designed with sensible reinforcement structures and quality parts. Yes it costs a little more than the Bosch, flymo and the other unbranded equivalents but it is far superior.
Plus it was on offer so the difference in price was very small.
The assembly was let down by the instructions which are a generic set of instructions for the entire range and did not include specific assembly instructions for this mower. Which was confusing. This mowers handles have no hinge at the base. So throw away the instructions and build at as your eyes see fit to do so. There's only 2 or 3 ways to try before you get it right!

Excellent value A very good mower for the price, quick delivery and arrived when expected. As other reviewers have said the grass catcher is a bit difficult to assemble if you are not very strong so I found that a rubber mallet and a quick tap on each locating tabs worked well. It would be helpful to include a clear picture of how to insert the mulching attachment. Overall a very good and better than expected mower.

Lawnmower review Delivered in reasonable time. Relatively easy to construct once I had established which model it was. The grass box was the most difficult. It seemed perfectly aligned but did not easily clip together. I needed help from someone stronger than me as it required a degree of force. Easy to handle and gave a good cut. A good long lead too.

Excellent Value for Money I have given high marks partly because of the low cost for a Mountfield; excellent value for money. Of course the machine isn't heavy enough to leave very distinct stripes, but on the other hand, it's easy to manoeuvre - my lawn is quite small and an odd shape!

Previous reviews are right to say that the grass box is the hardest bit to assemble - just be patient and ensure the parts are properly aligned - I found a few karate chops of increasing strength did the job in connecting the parts!

The handbook is not helpful in describing the mulching gadget, but I live near MowDirect so I called in and the very helpful assistant gave me a quick lecture re how useful this could be in leaving tiny shredded grass to help the lawn improve.

Mountfield Electric Mower. A nice piece of kit. I would have liked to see the front wheels with some angular movement, and that would have allowed me to give it the 5* rating that it deserves

A Great Lawnmower I have not had a rotary lawn mower before, but this is an excellent one. The cut is amazing and it's very easy and light to use.

It is exceptional value for money. Fast delivery too. The only negative was that I found it difficult to put together, especially the grass box.

Good Value I bought this mower to replace a Mountfield Princess electric which I'd had for many years. Unfortunately I didn't realise how lightweight it was, compared with my previous mower. It cuts fine, but is not quite so manoeuvrable, particularly on the edges of the lawn. However, the cut is quite good and it's very easy to alter the cutting height. It fits easily in the back of a car, which is useful.

An Excellent Machine for a Smaller Lawn The ease of adjustment for cutting height makes this machine simple and quick to use. It cuts very well and leaves a wonderful 'stripe' on our lawn.

It is lightweight, manoeuvrable and easy to clean. It has certainly achieved its purpose in our garden. A very good buy at the price.

Great Product, Great Price, Speedy Delivery I bought this mower for my husband. We had a Mountfield petrol mower which lasted for about 8 years, so we went for the same make again. My neighbour recommended MowDirect.

We thought we'd try an electric mower this time, saves having to go out and get petrol each time and it was about £70 cheaper.

He is very pleased with it, cuts nicely, handles well, nice and light. Easy to put together, good quality. The service was extremely speedy, delivered to the door within a couple of days and cheaper than the usual DIY stores you might visit. Very pleased.
