Description

Oleo-Mac are Italy’s leading garden-machinery brand, and with quality machines like this coming-in at such an attractive price, it’s easy to see why.

Exclusive to MowDirect, the Oleo-Mac G53-TK Comfort 3-in-1 offers an unbeatable combination of superior cutting-performance and rugged build quality. With this mower you can collect, mulch and rear-discharge the grass cuttings making it an extremely versatile choice suited to both lawn and rougher grass. It’s fitted with a high-powered 159cc Emak engine which employs the latest overhead-valve technology for fewer exhaust emissions; improved fuel-economy; and reduced noise levels when compared to similarly-rated engines with the old-fashioned side-valve layout. Starting is headache-free.

The Oleo-Mac G53-TK has a power-drive to the rear-wheels, so slopes and rough, tussocky ground can be traversed with little effort expended on the part of the operator. The ground-speed is set at 3.6km/h.

Thanks to its generous 51cm cutting-width and large-capacity 60-litre collector, the Oleo-Mac G53-TK Comfort Petrol Self-Propelled Lawn Mower will cover a large lawn (up to 1200m2) in quick time.

It has an adjustable height-of-cut (28 – 75mm) which is controlled using just the one lever for ease-of-use; and it features a robust steel mower-deck, which benefits from a powder-coated paint finish for long-term corrosion- and scratch-resistance.

Features

  • A high-quality, European-made mower; available exclusively through MowDIRECT
  • 51cm cut and 60-litre catcher for a fast work-rate on larger lawn areas
  • Advanced OHV engine ensures powerful and ultra-reliable performance
  • 3-in-1 mowing: collect, mulch and rear-discharge

Good Mower I have had this mower now in use for about 2 months, but the handle you use for adjusting the height with has sheared the rivet that fastens it to the wheel. This is the only problem I have had. I cannot fault the mower otherwise; it is very good.

Excellent Very impressed with this mower. Easy to assemble, just attach the handle, and put the grass box together. It was a joy to use, cutting long grass with ease.

The mower arrived with a broken wheel. Miss handling by the delivery company I expect. One call to the excellent customer service, and a new wheel arrived the very next day.

Very impressed indeed.

A Machine that Does Everything Asked of It . Bought last year, used sparingly before Winter so delayed reviewing. This Spring machine wouldn't start. Followed advice and drained fuel which had overwintered. With fresh fuel in it, the mower burst into life on second pull.

I have used it since, week in week out with it firing on first pull every single time. Choke used only when cold. A superb machine which has coped with undulating ground and long grass over slightly more than a third of an acre. Now, more closely cropped, the mulched area provides a very presentable view in quick time with minimal effort. Just delighted!

Excellent Machine - Good Value for Money I had intended to purchase a 53cm Mountfield mainly because of the Briggs & Stratton engine but my son in law advised to look at the Oleo Mac G53 and I am delighted he did. The machine came in a sturdy carton, assembly was straightforward - approx. 40 minutes - and it started after two pulls.

The height adjustment is easy and it cuts well. I particularly like the operating speed; so many mowers, particularly the Hayter, tend to run away with you. Overall I think the G53 is very good value for money and I would recommend it.

Italian Engineering Gets My Vote Of Confidence I've never previously owned, or even used, a petrol mower so I'm unable to make comparisons but I can testify to the fact that on its first two outings to tackle the super-sized, sloping and undulating lawn at our new home, it performed superbly.

I upgraded to this machine from a lightweight, manual push mower (also purchased from MowDirect) and am more than pleased that I made the right choice. Assembling the grass-box was rather like putting a tight corset on to a fat body , but now it's assembled, it does the job well, though I am experimenting with the machine's different modes, including mulching.

I'm impressed by MowDirect's product range, prices, quick delivery and back-up. I was steered towards this purchase by a long-held admiration for Italian engineering - ever since they built the Kariba Dam.

Great Product and Amazing Service! The customer service we received from MowDirect was exceptional and we cannot recommend them enough. The problems we encountered with the first two mowers were down to the manufacturer and not the supplier.

Purchased mower no. 1. Chassis broke. No problem. A quick phone call and it was replaced like for like and delivered the next day. Unfortunately this one had bits missing. Quick phone call. Next day delivery
Neither were oleo-Mac. We decided to upgrade to this model and we are very pleased with the Oleo-Mac G53.

Just a Great Mower I spent over 3hrs looking for a mower as a self-employed Gardener and this gives me all the needs I require at a very good price. It's well-built,easy to use and simple to build in less than 10mins. It starts well on the first pull, runs very well.

I look after 3 gardens on slopes and this is now not a problem as this is built like a tank and runs up and down with ease and on side to side with no problem. With the large cut it takes no time to cut the lawns now. All in all a great mower which I have now used on 4 large lawns and no problems.

With the peace of mind from the warranty and the great service from MowDirect this should last me years, so if anybody thinks this a cheap and not built to last mower they are very wrong . I'm not being funny about it. I had a Honda till it gave up the ghost and it was going to cost a bit to put right but this mower is on par no problem.

So, all very good and very pleased I found a great mower at the price thank you MowDirect

Excellent Budget Mower I was looking for a more affordable petrol mower. Having previously had a Husquvana for 7 years it had a lot to live up to which so far the Oleo-Mac has done. It was easy to make ready, although the guide for finding oil quantities was a bit of a problem to navigate.

We use the mower to cut two medium to large size lawns and so far it has performed well, they are both on the flat.

The drive pulls the mower effortlessly and the cut is smooth and clean and it is easy to change the cutting height. It was a bit difficult to turn but we found that by disengaging the drive at this point it was fine. My 11 year old great nephew found his first experience of mowing great fun. Time will tell how it stands up to the use and no doubt some abuse, but the deck looks sturdy and, as suggested by a previous reviewer, you could change the front wheels if damaged.

Excellent Mower at an Excellent Price I've had this only for a couple of weeks and so far so excellent.

It's relatively easy to assemble, although the instructions are pretty sparse its largely just common sense and didn't take long - the 600ml of oil supplied was useful since that's pretty much the amount it needed from empty (550ml according to the manual).

It started first pull and handled the first cut of the year very well, the large grass collector is refreshing after my last mower and it cut the (slightly) damp grass with ease.

It is missing a couple of the more 'luxury' features like easy deck cleaning, and yes... its a bit heavy but it was only £250...! The people whining on about Honda durability and features need to think seriously about the price point. I couldn't be more pleased with it.

Having had to call MowDirect's customer service (I wanted to collect it direct from the courier depot since I was in the area) they were really friendly and helpful, calling the courier while I waited and making the appropriate arrangements quickly and without any issue.

Overall, as you can probably tell - I've very happy with the mower and MowDirect and highly recommend them both.

Overall very Satisfied but with Gripes Now had this mower for 2 seasons. Its performance is fantastic. I used it this year on a large area of rough grassland with 6-9 inch grass depth . Eventually on the highest setting it chomped all the way through . Very extreme usage but it got through. Area is now tamed.

On my normal lawn this mower is total boss on 1st or 2nd settings . Gives nice cut and excellent grass pickup .

Gripes --be warned that the body edges are very sharp and it is heavy unit . Do NOT try picking it upout of box but cut box around it and wheel it out. I badly cut my hands.

The Grassbox is fiddly to assemble. Mower handle could be better designed as it is very tight fit. Now try changing the oil. Poor design means it cannot be drained through sump bolt because bolt is too long and fouls bodywork so cannot be removed . You have to tip mower on its side to drain it .

Good Well Built Mower at Great Price Great mower bought at a really good price for the size and capability. No problems with anything - easy put together and start. Don't know about durability but the machine looks well made and built.

My only quibble is that the handle doesn't easily fold to make storage more compact in the shed rather we have to remove the whole assembly but this is only a minor point.

Oleo Mac Lawnmower Purchased this mower to replace earlier model of same make. I had last machine for 10 years with very little problems so purchased up to date model. The mower came with excellent delivery from MowDirect , the machine came well packed and easy to build up after following instructions. It also came supplied with oil which had to be filled but would have been better if amount was specified but not big problem.

It is very robust and solidly built and has a great cutting capacity. The starting is different as you do not have a primer plunger for the petrol but it starts easily when controls are put into start position again pointed out in manual.

Overall the machine is an excellent choice for larger lawns and, being power driven, is very easy to use, but I so far have used by just pushing, as it's very easy to move, Very pleased with purchase well done MowDirect. Thank you for excellent service.

Fantastic Product and Service Without knowing anything about this product or the company I decided after some research to go ahead with the purchase. The service was unbelievably fast, so fast I never anticipated after ordering so late in the day that the lawnmower would be delivered the very next day. With limited time available I managed to build the lawnmower with ease, fuel it up and away it went, starting efficiently.

The build seems a bit heavier but also solid in construction. The lawnmower made short work of my large garden which was a bit overgrown due to the incessant rain. Even although the grass was still wet the machine glided along effortlessly. So far so good.

Reliable service, good solid machine. Would have no hesitation about recommending the company and the product.

Good Machine Once you Get it Going I bought this machine as my old mower was on its last legs. Having researched many machines on line, it seemed to have good features, a long warranty and seemed good value for money even though it was a bit more than I intended to spend on a replacement mower.

In the event, first impressions are that it is an accomplished lawnmower, cutting and gathering very well, whilst being easy to start and operate, as well as quite quiet and economical on fuel.

The only real criticism I have to date is that the two instruction books are extremely lengthy, but paradoxically the explanation and pictures as to how to assemble (especially) and start the machine were not as easy to understand as I felt they should have been.

Good Practical Lawn mower I have had it for three years now. The front wheels do not like banging into things and are a bit light weight for the machine. I replaced these with heavy duty wheels. The petrol cap has just fractured.

All in all a very good mower, with a strong engine, that cuts and mulches for me in a medium to large garden. Easy to start, and works well.

Very happy with the machine and its operation.

Good Mower, Good Price, Not so Sure about Mulching Bought this mower to replace an expired Mountfield 46 cm thinking that the extra 2" on the blade would (marginally) reduce my lawn mowing time. Probably true but I did not realise quite how heavy it would be with the bigger engine than the Mountfield. I'm reasonably used to it now but this is not a mower for the Little Woman (nor the Little Man). No problem when walking straight ahead under power but turning at the end of rows or pulling it back up when mowing a slope are demanding operations.

Only other slight disappointment relates to mulching. I never had this feature before and was attracted by the theory that it eliminates grass box emptying, nourishes the lawn and the clippings vanish into the lawn. The first is true, the second might be, but the clippings most definitely do not vanish (unless you mow when the lawn doesn't really need it and what's the point of that?).

If I were buying it again, I'm doubtful that I'd buy the optional mulching plug. Having said that, although the finish isn't as nice, if I'm in a hurry and not too bothered about the finish, using the mulching option reduces my usual time of about an hour to about 45 minutes. So, yes I'd buy this mower again but probably not the mulching plug.

Happy With This Mower When the mower arrived one of the front wheels had been smashed in transit and my first thoughts were "build quality" but after examination I really don't know how it could have been damaged.

Instructions are straight forward, although they do refer to a different grass box which had me searching for a part which wasn't there and wasn't needed.

Grass box is a bit flexible and not that easy to fit to the mower but the design lets you check how full it is without stopping the mower. Only 4 cutting heights and I'm finding for general cutting one position is a little too high and the next one a little too low. Having said that I'm happy with the mower, easy to start and smooth operation.

Ok, Does the job Fast delivery, easy to assemble, grass box a bit fiddly bot not too bad, good cutting width.

I found the power drive very fierce on engagement, and the mower tended to jump forward at a pace, the drive for me could have been a lot slower as I had problems keeping up with it when fully engaged, I have slight walking difficulties, and had to try holding it back, or releasing completely, and pushing the mower. The handles are not comfortable to hold, could have done with foam covering.

Also, the drive wheels tended to skid , on the grass, poor grip and tread, this may be because the drive is so fierce, although the grass was dry, don't know if it's possible to adjust this, any suggestions welcome.

All in all, a powerful mower, at a fair price, if I could slow down the power drive I would give it five stars (*****).

Best Mower I've Owned Only used this once as bought in November. Our "lawn" has fairly thick coarse grass which was soaking wet. Despite this the mower coped well, although it did stall a few times, but restarted easily.

I bought the optional mulching plug as a previous mulching lawnmower was brilliant (until it broke!). The mulching wasn't perfect, but considering the state of the grass I wasn't surprised. I expect it will perform better when the grass is drier.

The only negative point so far is the difficulty of cleaning after use. Anyone who remembers cars from the 70s or earlier will know exactly what I'm talking about. The underside is a mass of wedge shaped traps where the cuttings compact. With a metal body, this is a recipe for rampant corrosion.

Struggled to find 10w 30 oil as the manual states. So went for sae30 instead. Started easy, good walking speed. Good size collection box.

Has meant I can mow the lawn even with a bad back, as I am not pushing it up a hill. Also the drive wheels disengage when you release the black lever. Heard reports of some makes not doing this.

Great Value Mower The mower arrived within two days of ordering it online, before I got a tracking number, (which I never actually received but no problem - I have the mower).

I had it assembled in no time at all, the longest task being filling it with oil. The grass box, as previously mentioned, was a bit fiddly, but no big problem

I have now used the mower about 4 times and have been very pleased with it. It starts on the first or second pull every time. The only thing I have noticed is that it needs choke every time you start it, if it has cooled even slightly. No big problem as long as you know this.

The self-propulsion is slower than I would like, but it is so much easier to push than my previous mower that I don't need to use it.

Overall a great mower that I believe is better than the Honda mower that I borrowed off of my Father, when my old mower went wrong.

Very Pleased with Prompt Delivery, Price and Customer Service Very good company to deal with, and a very prompt delivery. The box the mower came in was damaged, but the mower itself looks fine as far as I can tell.

I would agree with some reviews that the grass box was a bit of a challenge to put together, and yes I know you only need to screw it together, but getting it together to screw it was very awkward as the two halves did not match very well and although I managed to screw them together in the end, they do not match 100%.

I have not used the mower yet as it is too wet, but after fitting everything and filling it with oil (£9.95 with free PP from e-bay) and petrol, it started second pull.

Overall it is a very solid machine at a very competitive price and hopefully it will last as long if not longer than my old Mountfield.

Satisfied - Kind Of. Delivery - arrived when expected. Well boxed. Not happy with the fact that the platform of the mower was dented on one side, so the blade wouldn't spin. Wasn't prepared to return it to possibly have the same or a different problem so I sorted it myself, which when you have a severe back problem is no mean feat.

Set up - tricky to get the handle on by yourself. Would advise having some help for that part. I found putting the accelerator lever on was a problem because the dipping proccess of coating the handle made the hole for the bolt too small, so I had to drill it out to get this sorted.

Build quality - very good, nice and solid. The only problem that I am experiencing is that the accelerator lever is facing out to the right hand side so I keep catching it on fences or hedges on that side of the mower, which results in the engine almost cutting out.

Performance - very nice and easy to start literally fired on the first compression and spark, I would recommend this machine to anyone who has difficulties starting a pull start mower.

All in all despite the difficulties I can't complain, £150 discount makes this one to take a serious look at. Cuts very nicely. Does what it's meant to.

A powerful, light and easy to use machine Once the courier found my house it took less than ten minutes to assemble (bolt on the handle, fit the speed controller and assemble the grass box), and after adding oil and petrol I was using the mower within 20 minutes of delivery.

A few pulls to get the machine working and, since then, it has started every time first pull. The powered drive is very effective (my garden is on a hill) and it gives neat cut.

Overall a light, robust and powerful mower at a very competitive price.

Petrol Lawnmower Quick delivery for large item. Good size blade. Cuts my large garden nearly as quick as my ride on mower.

If the 3 year manufacturers guarantee holds up then I'm a happy chap, cheers.

Pleased with mower Just got one of these last week from MowDirect. Quite straight forward to put together, although I did not understand the diagrams provided.

Quite difficult to gauge how much oil to put in the engine, as the level is not clear on the dipstick opener - so I overfilled to be sure. Engine started on the first pull which was great.

Good self-propelling pull which went up my sloping garden well. The only negative is the grass box which is not the easiest, although I like the fact that it is all solid plastic rather than part plastic, part net which can deteriorate over time.

All in all a good machine at a good price. 51cm cut self propelled - 60L solid grass box for under £240 delivered. What more can you ask for?

Good product great value Very good quality. Quick delivery. Easy assembly.

The only down side is no engine oil supplied with machine, so you will not be able to use straight away unless you already have some.

Grass box a bit tricky to hook on at times, but what the heck? Over all excellent value and was in use soon after delivery with good results.

Pretty good value, but early days yet Packaging was slightly damaged, which resulted in a couple of minor scrapes to the paint on the engine stop bar. Assembly instructions could be a bit clearer - you have to work some of it out for yourself, i.e. cable ties and final position of recoil cord. Some of the welds look a bit iffy, but the motor seems solid enough.

SAE10-30 oil is quite hard to get these days. I don't know why 5-40 synthetic should not be okay? I ended up paying nearly £13 for a litre of 10-30 in Halfords.

Haven't had a chance to mow the grass with it yet, as it's still recovering from the rain, my scarifying it, and weed and feed. However, the engine fired first pull and is a lot quieter than my old mower.

It has an oil drain plug and a carb drain plug, which is a good idea. Throttle means that my wife should be able to use it, as the old one was too fast. Looking forward to actually cutting the grass with it.

Oleo-Mac G53 TK Great mower with superb performance. Cuts the grass very well. The engine is well balanced and offers great power. My garden is just over 150ft up a slight incline and the mower made light work of it.

Would definitely recommend to all.

Excellent Was really pleased with the product. Very speedy delivery. Product arrived boxed and padded well. No broken parts or anything missing. Put mower to the test. Easily started with one pull, and away it went. Cuts brilliantly and the grass was very wet for its first cut. Was really impressed with the mower indeed.

Oleo-Mac G53-TK Ordering was easy and delivery very prompt , had a problem with one wheel broken but this was sorted out without question and a replacement sent ,after putting wheel on I put oil and fuel in it and followed instructions. It started first pull, with the weight of mower it cuts brilliant as it has a metal body unlike my last one which was a smaller plastic body one and much lighter. The power drive is not too fast and you can slow it down with the throttle. All in all looks fine in easy jet orange; assembly is dead easy - grass box 4 screws to put in and handle 2 bolts with butterfly nuts also 1 bolt for the throttle and some cable clips (also if the wheels were detached I don't think there would be any problem with damage plus dead easy to fit). If that's too hard for buyers to do I don't think they should handling machinery of this nature. Only given 4 stars because not had it long enough for a fair review.

Good machine Have used several times now and the machine is excellent. It starts 1st time every time and has not strugled at all with our grass even when wet. Only down side, and it is only minor, the grass collection box is awkward to get on and off.

A fair product without frills that cuts well If you have been used to a Honda, you will be less enthusiastic of this product, but for the price I guess a fair mower. Certainly will not give the longevity of a Honda I would think. Shame that it has no separate cutter control as you need a restart after every emptying as the motor is unable to tick over when the 'dead man's' handle is released. Cuts well.

WELL PLEASED Just to let you know that I am so pleased with this new mower that I recommended my neighbours and my family members to go for this petrol self propelled lawn mower. It took me just an hour to mow my lawn, whereas it would usually take me about 3 hours with my old mower. The only downside of this mower is that its too heavy for me to take it down 4 steps on to the greens.

With its self propelled features, this mower is a must to buy.
