Enjoy top-of-the-range power and performance and take an aggressive approach to heavy-duty landscaping applications with MTD’s flagship homeowner-use brushcutter!
Supplying an impressive 1.9hp is a very high-capacity 52cc MTD two-stroke air-cooled engine with the trusted US garden-machinery giant’s Easy-Start system that eliminates all from the ignition process; and a full crank for high-torque operation with greater tolerances and a comfort-enhancing cut in vibration.
Also important in terms of the engine is an extra-capacious 1.2-litre fuel-tank that ensures fewer top-up stops and therefore increased productivity.
The MTD SBC52 Petrol Brushcutter can be equipped with either a 42cm twin-line head for when tackling lighter-duty strimming and lawn-edge tidying; or a 25.5cm tri-arc metal blade that will take well-established scrub and bramble in its stride.
It boasts a solid drive-shaft that optimises power-transfer to your chosen cutter-head; and it’s fitted with a professional ‘bike’-type handlebar that provides the in control and manoeuvrability.
This model benefits from MTD’s provision of a fatigue-alleviating double shoulder harness.

Engine let go after 10 litres of fuelReview by Brian McMillan / (Posted on 30/07/2019)Looks well made, easy to assemble, and easy to start. Well balanced in operation and destroys bracken and brambles with 3mm line. Line head disintegrated when I hit a stone, but replacement going strong.
Heard a rattle as I started it today and as it was ticking over, the case split and the engine seized. Otherwise, it looks brand new :-(.
Bought an MTD as the previous Lawnflite is still going after over twenty years and it is supposed to be the same outfit. Not sure what I will replace it with.
