The new SP505R-V from trusted British brand Mountfield is aimed at homeowners looking for a premium-level petrol roller-mower at a price that won’t break the bank.
At its heart is a Honda GCV160 engine that employs an OHC (overhead-cam) configuration for a cut in fuel-costs; and which employs only precision-machined components so as to minimise vibration, noise and wear.
Honda’s AutoChoke system ensures dependable starting under any conditions; while their Dura-Lube technology delivers an impressively lengthy engine-life.
The Mountfield SP505R-V boasts a power-driven rear-roller that makes the negotiation of slopes and rolling ground a low-effort operation (the ground-speed can be adjusted to suit the terrain and grass-length).
It features centralised height-of-cut adjustment, so you’ll find it quick and easy to select the most appropriate blade-position; and it’s built around a hybrid steel/aluminium deck that offers the ideal blend of lightness and strength.
The minimum cutting-height on the Mountfield SP505R-V Petrol Rear-Roller Lawnmower is just 13mm – with it set this low you’ll be able to achieve a neat, manicured finish similar to that produced by a cylinder-mower.
A deck-wash port makes it possible to clean the undercarriage by simply attaching a hosepipe and spinning the blade; while a large 75-litre-capacity collector and generous 48cm working-width combine to ensure a fast work-rate on a more substantial lawn.

Poorly Constructed, Poor EngineReview by Graham Cowland / (Posted on 09/06/2017)After only 3 weeks the cord grip broke due to poor casting.
The engine will not start if it has stood for approx. 20 min; starts OK when cold and when hot, but otherwise rubbish. Auto choke does not work properly. Regret ever buying this mower.

Really Pleased!Review by O Jan / (Posted on 17/06/2016)I am no expert with lawn mowers. Having moved to a house with a pretty big lawn, I got a ride on mower which broke down (and I was not very happy with it anyway as it did not collect the grass). Chose this for the roller, large capacity collector and variable speed.
The roller is good, and it mows brilliantly, not so sure yet about the benefit of variable speed but only used the mower twice so far, again not so sure about the grass-collector (comparatively in litres to others, this was one of the only one in 70's).
Starting is good, no problems so far. What else can I say? It does the job well, I cant think of any negatives.
