Making it tick is a super-efficient Stiga ST120 engine that develops a sizeable 2.5hp from a displacement of only 123cc; and which, thanks to its overhead-valve (OHV) configuration, will prove clean-burning, cheap to run and pleasingly quiet in operation. Not just a cut & collect machine, the versatile Mountfield SP42 Petrol Lawnmower can also be set-up to mulch - instead of being bagged, cut-grass in retained under the cutter-deck, where it’s reduced to a fine mulch that will quickly rot and vanish, leaving your lawn clippings-free and naturally nourished. The Mountfield SP42’s compact 41cm cut and power-driven rear-wheels blend to make it great match for smaller areas with inclines and areas of rough, tussocky ground. It features ‘collector full’ indication, so it’s unlikely you’ll overfill and block the discharge-chute; and it’s supplied with a roomiest-in-class 60-litre grassbag that’s made from breathable canvas to as to maximise catcher-capacity. Offering six preset cutting-heights - simple to select via just the one lever - the Mountfield SP42 Self-Propelled Petrol Lawnmower is flexible in use and can be adapted to produce the finish you prefer.
