Driving its durable 1500w brushless motor is an industry-leading 60v (4Ah) lithium-ion battery-pack that provides emission- and maintenance-free power; and which doesn’t suffer from the self-discharge and fade problems that characterise less advanced nickel-cadmium cells.
The Mountfield S42-PD LI Cordless Lawnmower boasts a rear-wheel power-drive for the effortless coverage of inclines and areas of rough-grass and bumpy ground.
It lets you choose from any of six preset cutting-heights, so you’ll be able to achieve your desired finish; and it offers four cutting-modes (bag; mulch; rear/side-discharge), so you can choose the mowing mode that best matches the prevailing conditions.
Unusually for a non-petrol-powered mower, the S42-PD LI is constructed around a strong and durable steel deck (cordless and electric mowers usually have plastic decks).
It weighs just 24kg, so you’ll have no trouble carrying it up steps or lifting it into the car-boot; and it boasts a large-capacity 60-litre hard-top canvas catcher with a ‘collector full’ indicator to prevent overfilling and the accompanying mess.
The wheels on this 41cm model on mounted on ball-bearings rather than bushes, so they will continue to roll freely with age. -

As Good as the Petrol Mower it Replaced Very pleased with mower performance.
Instructions very confusing as manual is in about 20 languages and there are diagrams for three different machines at the front and it's not clear which one applied to my mower. However, I did manage to assemble reasonable easily, though ot took a few goes with the grass box assembly.
We have a lot of grass and use a ride on for most of it. This mower is for getting to edges under trees etc. But I did cut about half an acre of grass on one charge which I was impressed with. -
Excellent Performance. Assembly Easy with Hindsight Excellent performance .Cut the front lawn and only used one third of battery. Had problem with assembly instruction as the diagrams were vague. (Two litres of 4stroke engine oil didn't help. Phoned help line it seems this was included in error.)
