Description

A premium quality lawnmower at a lower division price, the Princess 38 Electric 4-Wheel Rear Roller Lawnmower packs a huge, technologically advanced punch with its modern brushless induction motor, and delivers exemplary value for money with top notch features and unrivalled mains electric performance from a mains electric in this price range.

The motor produces 1600 watts of power and very efficient performance while keeping noise to a relative whisper and performance to a maximum. Fewer wearing parts means less likelihood of maintenance being needed and the lack of emissions ensures a clean mowing experience every time.

The Princess 38 is so called because it has a cutting width of 38 centimetres which is perfect for lawns of around 15m2 and delivers effective three-in-one cutting with cut and collect, rear discharge with a deflector to direct the clippings to the lawn and an included mulch plug which allows mulching, helping to make your lawn more healthy and greener.

The cutting height of the Princess 38 lawnmower can be adjusted easily from a single point and provides 6 positions of cut from 25 millimetres all the way up to 75.

The lightweight polypropylene deck features a grass comb underneath which helps to ease the grass blades into the cut and avoid scalping, while enhancing the cut and aiding collection.

The wheels are wide and feature rubber tyres for a comfortable and smooth run, with the rear tyres being much larger (front 150mm, rear 250m) assisting turning and manoeuvring.

As well as the wheels, the Princess 38 Electric has a rear roller which produces an iconic striped effect similar to that of professional mowers and as featured on cricket pitches and landscaped lawns everywhere.

A rear roller also helps keep the mower balanced and the cut even, especially when mowing along edges, paths and borders.

Fully folding handles with quick release clips allow for trouble free storage and transport of the mower.

The 40-litre grass collector has a handle for easy emptying and a hard top to keep dust from rising and irritating the operator and it features a grass full indicator window for convenience.

The Princess 38 Electric Rear Roller Lawnmower comes with fifteen metres of cable included and carries a full 2 year domestic warranty.

Excellent Service/Delivery & Mower Top Class I am very pleased with my new Mountfield Princess 38 electric 4-wheel roller mower.

Ordering was easy, the delivery was next day and the mower is excellent. I found all the features so helpful and the mower is very easy to handle on my lawn which has a number of borders and flower beds. Cleaning and storage were straightforward.

I would certainly recommend the service from MowDirect and this super machine for a medium-sized lawn.

Fleet Good value for money mower. Not too heavy & the carrying handle is handy. On assembling the handle, one of the square holes wasn't punched right through & the bolt wouldn't go through it. I drilled & filed it out to the right size & all's well. I appreciate others may have had to send it back for such an issue as it would have been impossible to fit the handle.

I'm hoping it'll give me good service for a fair few years to come.

Mountfield Princess 38 A rather lengthy delivery time, but it arrived in the end. Once unpacked, the mower was easy to assemble including the grass box. The first usage on our medium sized lawn with slightly damp grass proved the machine to be a good choice as it dealt with the job efficiently and relatively quietly.

Emptying the generous grass box was easy enough and then a good clean down of the whole mower with a hand brush finished the job.

Only slight minus is there's nowhere to stow the lead when finished.

Good Value I needed a medium sized electric mower for the garden of our new house and my old petrol Mountfield was simply too big. I would have liked to go with a lithium battery unit, but the extra £200 still is too much.
This unit was easy to assemble, except for the grass box which needs a little more care and the plastic to be in the sun for a while to make it softer! It is light to move and stow away with a handle that allows easy storage.

In terms of cutting, the six settings are pretty good but ideally, the lowest setting is just a fraction too low for general lawns and the second setting isn't quite low enough. If you have rough-ish grass, position 2 is fine but for manicured lawns, you need position 1.

If you have let your grass grow a bit, do not expect this machine to cut it all off in one go! My neighbour's grass hadn't been cut this year, (lazy So & So) but I did cut it on setting 6 last Thursday and again on setting 4 today; however, ideally it needs to be at level 2, so maybe next time.

In all this use, I have only used the grass box and not the mulching plug, but once we get the lawn well settled, I will switch to mulching all the time.

A good all-rounder Ordered this mower after a lot of comparisons. I have to applaud the UPS guy who made the delivery - actually went out of his way so we would have it for the weekend! And now about the mower:

1 - I wanted the options to collect and to mulch, with adjustable handle positions so both my wife and I can use it - pass.
2 - I wanted a decent length of cable - 15m is a good length and it stores around the handle frames quite easily.
3 - It had to be reasonably light for both of us to use it - it is although some may say it is a little too light with its plastic deck, wheels, grass box etc. The modern induction motors are much lighter than old styles too.
4 - It is easily manoeuvrable due to its long-handled levers and has a powered rear roller to help it along and provide a directional stripe.
5 - Users have reported the grass box isn't easy to assemble, compared to the rest of the machine that is true, you need to use a bit of careful and well-directed force to get the parts to click together.
6 - And now a bit of a concern: The height adjustment mechanism seems rather weak. I have no problem with it right now but I will be cautious about making adjustments - certainly will want to sit it on a firm level base when doing that.

Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Easy to Use Mower Always had cylinder mowers in the past but very happy with this rotary mower. Much easier to manoeuvre than my previous, much heavier mower. Now used it a couple of times and once I got the height setting right produces good results.

Ordering with MowDirect quick and easy and delivery super prompt. Would recommend them to anyone.

Excellent Lawnmower The service and speed of delivery is more than first class. The only issue l had was the instruction/assembly book is not good so I ignored it and assembly was easiy enough for a child to do.

The mower is first class and SO easy to use.

Mountfield Princess 38 Electric 4-Wheel Roller Lawnmower was expecting a metal body similar to model I bought ~15 years ago, which was very robust until the switch/handle played up. The latest Princess is plastic and I hope it proves to be robust and long lasting. I chose Mountfield because the Bosch mowers are plastic - perhaps the Mountfiled plastic is stronger?

One advantage is that it is lighter and easier to manoeuvre. The chord is not so long by about 3 m.

Good Purchase Great purchase. This item replaced a smaller Bosch, which in comparison was flimsy and poor quality and lasted only 2 years. On the other hand, the Mountfield gives an extremely good cut with a neat finish, and although heavier and wider than previous mower, felt easier to use, and is much more robust.

The box is a good size and the lead a good length, so all in all a very good purchase. Note: as other comments, box a bit tricky, but OK.

Excellent mower. Excellent mower but, as has been stated in previous reviews, a little fiddly assembling the grass-box and no provision to coil power-cord on machine. I will over come this by fitting connector near top of cord. Overall excellent mower and delivery. Thank you.

Well Priced Product and Easy to Use But a few Niggles Assembly guide fairly straightforward but diagrams not as helpful as those from Iowa. Grass collection disappointing as box never full before excess spills out

Good performance cuts well.

Purchased thru MowDirect. Excellent service. Decided on a Mountfield Princess 38 Electric Mower after some research. Machine is very good whereas the assembling of the grass-box is a complete nightmare. It is made of pliable plastic, the slides and holes for the slides appear to be cut out by a robotic machine so a lot of manoeuvring is required. It took me a half hour, together with "blue expletives" to assemble the grass-box.

Also no tools are supplied with the machine. My Flymo, which it is replacing, was supplied with tools.

Easy to use but 1 Major Feature Lacking The Mountfield Princess 38 is an easy machine to use and produces prominent stripes. The casing is not very easy to brush clean after use due to the 'dome' on top. There is no cable tidy so stowage has to be achieved by wrapping the cable around the handle - which can slip.

Generally though, a smart machine that produces great results.

Great Mower & MowDirect were brilliant I highly recommend this mower, and MowDirect .

The mower is easy to put together. As previous reviewers have mentioned, the grass box was more challenging but Jason at MowDirect had suggested putting it together "like an Easter egg" - clip the 2 sides together first and then clip the top piece with the handle into place and this was easier.

First cut and it looks like a bowling green, fab!

Princess 38 Electric Mower A powerful, light and relatively quiet mower that does a great job of cutting our lawns. Well made and good value for money.

A Very Good Mower Just received the Princess 38 Electric. I have tried it on my back lawn and can confirm that it is easy to use and gives a better cut than my previous Mountfield Princess 14.

It is also easier to carry with the central handle. A slight downside is the assembly of the grass box which was not easy. All in all a good mower.

High quality lightweight electric lawn mower I received an excellent service from MowDirect; the company kept me informed about the availability of the item as it was not in stock when I made my initial order. When the Item became available I received a phone call and the lawnmower was delivered a few days later.
The Mountfield Princess electric lawnmower was ordered to replace a much older Mountfield electric lawnmower that I have used for many years.
I am very happy with my purchase; the Mower although a little more money than other electric mowers is a very robust high quality machine. It is fairly simple to assemble the machine out the box, however as other reviewers have mentioned the grass box is a little tricky to clip into place and takes some time for it to properly secure.
I haven’t had the chance to use the machine as of yet but will highly recommend others to purchase this mower.
