Product information

Description

If you’re looking to upgrade from an old mains-powered mower, but don’t fancy dealing with the inevitable hassle that comes with a petrol-driven machine, the cordless Mountfield Princess 34LI offers the perfect solution.

It comes with a high-performance 48V (2.0Ah) lithium-ion battery that will charge to capacity in less than 2 hours, and which will cut up to around 300-square-metres on that charge, depending on how challenging the grass conditions are.

A rear-roller mower, the Mountfield Princess 34LI will produce an enviable striped finish, and will remain stable when you’re mowing along borders. Unlike many roller-mowers, it’s equipped with rear-wheels too, so you’ll find easy to manoeuvre.

The Mountfield Princess 34LI Cordless Four-Wheel Rear-Roller Lawn Mower features a polypropylene chassis that will easily resist impact, while being inherently corrosion resistant.

It comes with a capacious 35-litre grassbox, which has vented sides to ensure it gets fully packed; and it offers a selection of six cutting-heights, so you can use the one that best suits the grass-length your working on and the type of finish you prefer (a grass comb ensures a particularly neat finish).

Features

  • A fine example of the now hugely popular battery-powered mower
  • Advanced lithium-ion battery develops an impressive 2.6Ah
  • Battery charges to full capacity in only three hours (and to 80% in two)
  • Rear-roller for the typically British lawn stripe
  • Rear-wheels have been fitted for enhanced manoeuvrability
  • Rugged poly chassis for impact- and rust-resistance
  • Vented grass-catcher means the maximum amount of cuttings can be packed-in
  • Six-step height-of-cut and three-on-one capability make it highly-versatile
  • Can collect; mulch; or rear-discharge cut grass

Great purchase for smaller gardens I am really pleased with 'Molly' my new small battery driven Mountfield mower. It's ideal for me and other women who simply can't pull the starter string on a petrol mower. It was really easy to assemble and handles effortlessly. Compared to other battery mowers I looked at, the Mountfield is much better put together and not flimsy like the others. Well worth paying slightly more for. N Reindl

Great little machine Really does the job - smallish lawn looking great, roller adds cut lines and very easy to handle.
Sufficient power and battery life to complete the job.

REALLY PLEASED WITH THIS PURCHASE I purchased this mower during the pandemic in May 2020. I've always had Bosch electric mowers in the past, so was a little apprehensive about changing manufacturers and of course going to battery powered. However those concerns were soon quashed when I assembled the machine and used it. The assembly itself is really simple, with the exception of the grass box, which is a little bit fiddly, but not difficult (I'm a pensioner, so if I can do it, anyone can). The build quality is very good, it being a strong plastic. With the battery charged up and inserted, the machine starts with a gentle whirring sound and when running, substantially quieter than an electric. The grass cutting itself is excellent, with several height settings, which are very easy to adjust. I'm very pleased with my purchase. Highly recommended.

Excellent Bought this for my son as I was mowing his lawn, lockdown stopped that.
Mower is excellent, I have the larger model so knew what to expect. Does the job as expected, light to handle and robust, battery life very good.
Considering the challenges Mow Direct did very well and can be recommended, second time I've dealt with them.
Package arrived undamaged and assembly of the mower straight forward.

Great little machine Has replaced a petrol mower and I find it light and easy to man-handle. One of few electric mowers to have a rear roller, so does give some semblance of stripes. Battery capacity is sufficient for my 100 sqm of lawns

Battery flap is sometimes difficult to open.

Speedy Delivery The mower arrived within 24 hours, albeit to our address and not Chipperfield's. However, a quick contact had a member of staff here within a couple of hours to assemble and demonstrate it.

The mower works very well and is light and easy to manhandle. We were very impressed with the whole procedure from visiting Chipperfield and using the product. The biggest problem was that they were only contactable by visit or email. Having only used the mower once, we just hope all goes well subsequently.

Great. I'm a greenkeeper and we use mowers all day long, I bought this not expecting too much but I have to say it's great...came with 2 batteries, I can cut my 100m2 lawn 4 times if needed.

The roller puts this mower above the competition as most cordless mowers don't seem to have rollers.. one downside, the handle is flimsy. It's strong enough mind you.

Poor Quality Battery has just given up after 3 years light use. Really cheap construction. Plastic battery flap difficult to open an sometimes comes off. We call it our toy mower as it is so plastic toy like.

Light and really easy to us, apart from the flap. I love cordless, but there must be better quality out there. I went for a mainstream brand but suspect the Greenworks is a better buy. I chose it for the rear roller, which is just hollow plastic so has no weight...I would do without.

Poor battery The mower arrived with the start key missing.

I have used the mower twice now and have to say I am very disappionted how long the battery lasts. Only getting about half hour cutting time before having to recharge.

Do not think it worth £269

A brilliant cordless law mower After my old petrol Mountfield gave up the ghost I thought I'd give a cordless a go - and I'm glad I did! It's light, easy to use and especially easy to clean - a quick brush over and it's ready to put away.

The battery charging is good too (it's got a chunky great battery but getting it in and out of the machine is a doddle). The charger lets you know when the battery is fully charged and the battery itself has an indicator to show how much umph it has left.

First time out I thought I'd give it a good test - wet grass, fairly long. No problem at all and the height changing is a simple, a one move operation (one lever moves all four wheels at once) - a great little machine!

Very quick delivery, very good product The battery was exhausted faster than I was expecting, but it was the first cut of the year, with the grass longer than I would normally cut.

Having removed the mulch blanking plate, I found it difficult to replace, but there is a knack to it and I will probably master it in time.

Apart from these two points, I am more than satisfied with the product and have no hesitation in recommending it.

Very good Even this wet autumn did not prevent use. Does a first class job, the rear roller certainly helps on the lawn edges.
