The Mountfield SP465R is equipped with a full-width rear-roller, which not only leaves a traditional striped finish, but also provides much-needed stability when mowing along borders and lawn edges. Its smooth-running Honda GCVx145 engine combines with its generous 46cm width-of-cut to make this high-quality but affordable lawn mower ideal for lawns up to 800m2.
Built around a powder-coated, pressed-steel deck, you can be sure the Mountfield SP465R Power Driven Rear-Roller Lawn Mower will provide years of trouble-free service. The blade-height can be adjusted through five positions (20 - 70mm), allowing you to choose between a formal or informal finish; while a large-capacity 55-litre grassbox means you can cover more ground between emptying-stops.
Thanks to its lightweight design, the Mountfield SP465R is highly manoeuvrable, making it ideal if you've got trees and garden ornaments to mow around. This easy to use mower also features an OPC (Operator Presence Control) for added operator safety. -

Well Built Machine I have only used this machine twice so far, so a long term view may be different. However, it feels like a well built machine with a quiet engine and a very easy to start pull chord. My old machine is twice as hard to pull.
The grass collector is a good size and cuts our lawn without having to empty it. The cut adjustment is a single lever and, again, this is effortless. It is definitely a step up from my previous, cheap DIY store petrol mower. The roller leaves a great stripe on the lawn but the downside to this is that it makes the lawn mower heavier than my previous machine and not as easy to manoeuvre.
We also have a long gravel drive between front lawn and rear and it's hard work dragging it or pushing it over the stones. However all in all it's a great machine which cuts the grass superbly. -
Excellent Mower Very pleased with this mower. It's a replacement for a 14 year old Hayter Harrier 48, not quite the build quality of the Hayter but a huge saving in weight so it is much easier to manoeuvre around my quite large lawns which have some sloping areas. Added to this, the Honda engine is much better tempered than the Briggs & Stratton engine on the Hayter, it starts much easier and seems to run so much smoother (the Honda engine was one of the reasons for buying this mower).
Assembly was quite easy and performance is very good, leaving a very clean and neat looking lawn, all in all - as a previous reviewer said - a very smooth operator. -
Brilliant My 1st time owning a petrol mower and I love this one. Very, very easy to use, goes on its own and I just follow behind. Wide cutting and a bigger grass-catching bag means less time stopping and I am loving the stripes in my garden.
Set up information is poor and I think my wife and i are quite intelligent people, so I would recommend to manufacturers a set up booklet like you would get at IKEA for the simple people like myself in life. Overall though once set up it's brilliant and excellent Customer Service from MowDirect -
Smooth Operator This is my first power-driven mower as our various areas of grass are fairly fiddly to mow and I had thought any additional weight would offset any advantages. However, now that it isn't easy to find roller mowers without power-drive I took the plunge - and it's fine after all.
This mower is a good bit heavier than I've had - and perhaps I could have gone for 41cm rather than 45 for a slight weight saving. But overall the drive works so smoothly and all the bells and whistles - like single lever height adjustment, grass-box full indicator and washing link - make the whole experience very satisfactory. And the engine sounds like a very sophisticated performer. So, while this is quite a step up in price for me, it feels well worth it.
