Description

This 18" self-propelled roller mower has been designed exclusively for MowDirect in conjunction with British lawnmower brand Lawnflite. Our aim when developing this unit was to offer our customers a quality roller mower with great features at an amazing price.

Roller mowers produce the classic British stripe on your lawn and this mower has a full-width roller at the rear for a solid banded finish. The roller is split for easier turning and will enable you to mow along the edge of your lawn for a tidier appearance.

The Lawnflite 18SPR benefits from a power-drive system so, with no pushing to be done, mowing your lawn becomes absolutely effortless. A throttle control lever has been fitted to enable you to adjust the revs to suit conditions.

The engine is smooth running and very easy to start. It's OHV design means lower fuel consumption and less emissions.

The Lawnflite 18SPR also has a seven-step cutting-height range that’s easy to adjust via a simple single-lever mechanism. It can be set as low as 17mm for a close, neatly manicured finish on formal areas.

Soft grips on the bale-arm and handlebar provide that added bit of comfort and the handles are height-adjustable for ease of use. The solid steel deck confers extra strength and durability whilst giving the mower that quality feel.

The 60-litre catcher that comes with the 18SPR is made from fabric for space-saving storage and increased airflow; and has a rigid plastic top that works to keep down dust when conditions are very dry. A grass-bag full indicator saves you the hassle of having to stop and check when to empty the catcher and its large capacity means you'll be able mow for longer between stops.

Too Many Negatives Initially what you notice is how flimsy the handles are, especially the bracket connecting it all together I don't think it will take long for this to break off. The engine is very low revving and this makes mowing the lawn seem a long time.

The big design fault is the spring height adjuster. if you lift the machine to move out of a corner or around an object the spring allows the wheels at the front of the machine to drop and take a groove out of the lawn which is then both very short and unsightly.

Grass collection though is quite good it is not until you attempt to take off the grass collector that things go wrong, with loads of grass cuttings fall out on the lawn between the collector and the machine. I cannot see this machine lasting beyond the 2-year warranty

Basic Little Mower for Short Grass The mower cannot handle long grass (15cm) and will just stop or not collect anything. It is fine or short grass but is very limited, meaning you have to be very regular in your mowing otherwise you will have to mow in 2 or more steps reducing the height progressively

Not very happy so far. I probably should have spend more for a more powerful unit

Good for the Price Excellent service from MowDirect, next day delivery.

A very good mower for the price. It seems heavy and well built. Only time will tell on reliability but all seems good at the moment.

Good Mower for the Price Prompt Delivery. So far has worked well. I like the single lever height adjustment. The stripes are not as good as the ones my Mountfield did before it died after 14 years service.

A Good Mower Arrived promptly and was it easy to assemble the handle. The mower has started first pull and every time since. It cuts well and the big grass box means few emptyings. Sometimes the grass box is a bit reluctant to go back on but usually no problem.

The weight makes it a bit tricky around flower beds but otherwise a good mower.

Great Mower Very easy to assemble and simple to start once I had realised which handle to hold down. The lawn looks superb afterwards too. My only gripe is the fact that you can't leave it running without the blade being engaged, so you have to re-start even if you want to just stop to pick up something from the lawn.

Lawnflite 18spr Overall an excellent mower with 7 cut levels. You don't even get this on more expensive mowers. This is the first self propelled mower I've owned and I am very impressed with it. The delivery service was excellent as I ordered it on a bank holiday and I still received on the first working day after.

Lawnflite 18SPR Delivery excellent. Easy for me, an engineer, to assemble but the crucial bit of the instruction manual was blank! I had read about the collection box being awkward, but forewarned by other reviews meant that I was ready to deal with this. It is a bit of a fiddle but not a problem.

It is a heavy machine but I’m getting used to that. I’m also getting used to the clutch. Slipping the clutch seems to be the only way to control the speed.

Overall, it does what I wanted it to do. That’s fine by me.

Lawnflite SPR Delivery excellent. Easy to assemble and no bits left over which was an encouraging start. I had read about the collection box being awkward, but forewarned by other reviews meant that I was ready to deal with this. It is a bit of a fiddle but so far not a problem.

It starts well and provides a good cut. I was expecting an instant Wimbledon Centre Court finish, but with the amount of moss and weeds I currently have, maybe this is ambitious. This is being addressed so I hope by the end of the summer I may see some decent results with regards my lines.

Good value and it feels robust enough to deal with my garden. So far so good.

Lawnflite18SPR The mower seems fine. I was previously using a 20 year old Hayter which finally shuffled off it's mortal coil. The price of the Lawnflite machine was very attractive compared with others. Generally only time will tell how reliable it will be. So far with only limited use everything is OK.

The cutout takes a bit of getting used to after the Hayter's blade disengage. The grass box can be a bit of a fiddle and I felt the oil dipstick was difficult to read.

Overall, providing this mower establishes reliability over a longer period, it is a very well engineered product. Above comments withstanding, I would certainly recommend this mower.

Great Machine, Great Price, Awkward Grass Box I had a qualcast for 25 years but it was surging and a bit worn out so I decided it was time for a change. Saw the Lawnflite and did not believe that you could get self-propelled rear roller machine under £300 so ordered with a degree of suspicion. Assembly was very simple and I got things up and running in 20 mins. Operation was different with the dead man handle a new feature to master.

The cut is sharp and true with striping as good as with my old Qualcast. The speed is good but it is a bit jumpy when you try to do those awkward corners with the machine overly keen to move. Height adjustment is simple with a single lever accessing seven levels. But the one drawback I would flag is the grass box positioning which makes it difficult to attach and remove.

Overall happy with my purchase. Sort the grass box design and you have the buy of the year.
