Cheaply Made, but Good Features
There are a few things you should know before spending over £300 on this machine. The build quality is pretty poor. The weight of the machine sits on the back wheels which are only held at the right height by a single hollow nylon pin. This is so weak that it was actually broken on delivery and I replaced it with something more substantial. The foam covering of the handle tore on first use, the folding action of the handle ripped the paint off as soon asI used it.
The lowest height setting can not be achieved on mine because the setting handle hole doesn't line up with the lock, and most frustrating, the safety key (to prevent accidental use in storage) keeps falling out in use due to vibration, cutting the motor out.
BUT, the advantages are pretty good too. The pickup is as good as any vacuum, leaving the lawn spotless, the grass box can be lifted from the front through the handle which is more natural than the back, the machine weighs half as much as a normal petrol mower of the same cut width, the battery life is good, allowing me to cut for over 45 mins non-stop and it is reasonably quiet when doing a light cut.
My machine runs at low speed when not under load (such as a light cut of dry grass), but when hitting long grass immediately speeds up. I'm not sure if this is a fault or an unpublicised feature. At high speed it is not much quieter than the petrol mower. All in all, I'm keeping it!
