1st Petrol Mower, well chuffed!!
I've given the LR48 the max 5 stars as it's my 1st petrol mower so I have nothing to compare it to, but I'm well chuffed with the service from MowDirect, delivered within 2 working days after ordering on a Bank Hol' weekend.
The mower was well packaged and easy to build. Had to fit the throttle body to the handles after they were folded out and fitted in place by 2 wing type securing nuts/bolts.
Grass collector snaps together and has 4 screws to secure it together. Clipped the cables to the handles with the plastic cable tidy and job done. Doesn't come with oil though so you'll need SAE30 or 10/30 grade mower oil.
Popped some fuel into the tank, set the throttle to 'start', gave the starter a pull and it fired straight up!
What I didn't know as a newbie was that the 'red' (brake) lever needs to be depressed all the time while you then depress the 'black' lever for drive. Letting go of the 'red' brake lever will cause the mower to stall, a safety feature I wasn't aware of as the inst booklet didn't explain it, or at least I never saw that it did.
My 2 lawns would take me 45mins at least to cut with my old elec mower, moving the cable, extension, 4 empties of the grass catcher etc.... The LR48 made easy work in 25mins and that's from a newbie, large grass catcher needed emptying twice only.
As I said, well chuffed although I was wary around the edges/fencing/borders of the lawn, as I'd get as close as possible with the lightweight elec mower. The LR48 is very well built and heavier than the elec' so I didn't try and get it so close as I didn't want to damage the lawn edges and more so, my brand spanking new mower!!
