The most substantial unit in the range, this innovative, British-built multi-habitat planter is aimed at large institutions – educational, care, residential, etc. – looking to generate a huge increase in the diversity and amount of wildlife populating their grounds!

The BioScapes BioCube® contains a host of different – but integrated – environments designed to encourage the proliferation of all manner of creatures, from insects, amphibians and small mammals, through to invertebrates, arthropods and arachnids.

The location of each of the BioCube’s habitats has been carefully considered, ensuring each one is optimally protected against heat, cold, noise, and of course, predators.

The effectiveness of the BioScapes BioCube® has been empirically demonstrated – in trials, it delivered a sizeable three-fold increase in amphibians; and a massive 10-fold increase in invertebrates.

Base Unit/Deadwood Area

The 600-litre deadwood area is situated directly on the ground, enabling good drainage, ensuring full integration with the site, and providing easy access for micro-organisms. It contains a low-moisture area perfect for hedgehogs and voles; and a damp area ideal for frogs, toads and newts.

Core Reservoir (Plus Additional Wet-Habitat Area)

Located above the base unit, the 100-litre, clay-lined core reservoir holds gravel or stones and retains water for the irrigation of the main planting area. Any overflow is channelled into the deadwood area, with the reservoir-base providing extra shelter for it.

Main Planting Area

Situated above the core reservoir, the 650-litre main planting-area can be filled with the most appropriate growing-media for the plant-types you intend to grow. Indigenous species – flowers, herbs and edibles – are most suitable, as they’ll attract native pollinators.

V-Planters

A secondary planting-space, the V-planters increase growing-capacity and provide enhanced aesthetics. They hold up to 250 litres of topsoil/growing-media.

Wooden Habitats

There are numerous wooden habitats, including a bee hotel, a butterfly house and an invertebrate hotel. These are positioned above the V-planters, at the edge of the main planting-area.

Additional Planters

Three additional planters – with a total topsoil capacity of 300 litres – are included in the package. These are ideal for use as raised beds, and are perfect for growing typical allotment crops.

Environmentally Sound

BioScapes BioCubes are constructed from material that are either recycled, or recyclable.

Please note: deadwood, expanded clay and topsoil are available separately.
