Mains-Electric Tillers

Mains-electric garden tillers - also known as electric cultivators - are ideal if you have a small patch of ground to cultivate, and wish to save on digging.

They’re much quieter then petrol models, so they’re ideal for built-up areas; and they might even be used in conjunction with a quiet-running suitcase generator on allotment plots or in other noise-sensitive environments.

Electric tillers are lightweight and energy efficient, with running-costs at a fraction of what you’d pay using a petrol model.

They are, however, generally less powerful than petrol machines, and are therefore more suited to aeration and surface weeding, rather than to full-on cultivating.
