Last-minute gift ideas for Christmas

Hayter Spirit 41 lawnmower

If you’ve still got a few gaps on your list of presents to buy, here’s the news, good and bad.

First the bad: you’re pushing it right to the wire.

Now the good: there’s still time to buy a great gardening present and have it delivered before Christmas.

Our last day for despatch is Thursday 22 December (3pm) and our office close 1pm Friday, so there’s still time.

And to give you a clue as to what is available have a look at our pages with 50 top present suggestions.

One of the successes of last year was the collection of Redback garden equipment.

This is a range of products we helped develop and relies on the latest battery technology rather than petrol power. And the advantage is that once you have the battery and charger you don’t need to buy them again as they fit all the equipment in the range.

They rely on Japanese cells and area fast to re-charge and provide plenty of power for the average domestic garden. Have a look at this video to the 40V Cordless Leaf Blower in action and then you’ll see that these machines are a very real alternative to petrol power.

If it’s a petrol mower you want you can’t do better than a Hayter, British made, the iconic fern-green machine seen puttering up and down the best lawns in the country.

These have been made in Britain since 1946 and the range includes mowers for every size of garden.

The most popular smaller mower in their range is the Spirit, light and easy to use and delivering the perfect finish thanks to a rear roller which leaves neat stripes.

With an alumimium chassis and a cutting deck lined in plastic to resist corrosion and keep the noise down they have a three-year warranty and can either be self-propelled or pushed.

And there is even an electrically-powered one for those who prefer.

But whatever one you choses they have low cutting heights which many prefer on smaller lawns.

And they costs from £259 to £399.

The Harrier range are for larger lawns and are the country’s best-selling rear roller mowers. The range has cutting widths up to 56cm so you can trim a lawn in the least possible time while still leaving an excellent striped finish.

The top of the range machines cost over £1000 but these are mowers made for very long working lives and great reliability and some can even be started by a key.

And you can’t go far wrong with a Mountfield, a favourite British brand for years and still offering great value for money.

These mowers are always among our best sellers and you will find this one, the Mountfield SP454 Self-Propelled Petrol Lawn Mower among our list of 50 Christmas gift suggestions.

Currently £100 off the recommended price it costs £249 and like all our products no matter how big or small are delivered free of charge.

You can still get them in time for Christmas if you get your skates on.

This mower is solidly built and perfect for a lawn around the size of a tennis court.

It even comes with a mulch plug for the drier summer months, which on a dank December morning can only be dreamed of.

These are a few gardening gift suggestions for the last-minute present buyer, and remember you can ring us on 020 3026 8712 if you have any queries about delivery or on the products themselves.

So from all us at MowDirect to past, present and future customers, have a very enjoyable Christmas.

And try to keep auntie away from the gin  bottle.
