Hints & Tips
September bursts in bright and sunny, kids have either returned to school or soon will and the first hint of a dew on the garden signals that autumn can’t be far away.
For those of you with larger gardens a lawn and garden tractor is just about an essential.
Large lawns need regular trimming and just with a trailer added the tractor becomes a useful tool all the year round.
And remember there is a host of other attachments which will make life easier – like a lawn rake or lawn sweeper to clear away the leaves.
The Oleo-Mac OM95-16KH Garden Tractor is from a major Italian manufacturer and is a favourite on the Continent.
To give you an idea of its capabilities, it has a 95cm cutting deck for starters and can cut grass down to 30mm and up to 90mm. It can also handle uneven ground without scalping as it is fitted with small wheels on the cutting deck to follow the contours of the lawn.
It has twin blades and a 310-litre grass box which can be emptied from the driver’s seat; and it will also mulch the clippings when conditions are suitable.
The engine is from Emak, 452cc, powerful and fuel efficient and the transmission is hydrostatic, making it very easy to drive.
The dashboard gives information on RPM and fuel and there is a bumper out front. And when you’ve finished you can attach a garden hose to the cutter deck to clean it – and prevent corrosion.
The tow hitch is fitted as standard.
This one costs £2499, £500 below the recommended price and compares favourably with other similar machines on the market.
We deliver it free within three to five working days and there is a five-year maker’s warranty.
The Oleo-Mac OM105-20H Garden Tractor is aimed at gardeners with larger areas to control, say up to three acres, as it has a 105cm cutting deck.
This tractor will collect and mulch and discharge to the back which is useful when you have less formal areas like orchards or paddocks to keep respectable.
This one is fitted with a V-twin 656cc Briggs & Stratton engine to give plenty of power and again has hydrostatic transmission to make it easy to drive.
Again it has a front bumper – well you never know – easy to change cutting height lever, full dashboard display and an adjustable, padded seat.
Twin cutting blades not only give a neat finish but develop a powerful airflow in the cutting deck to produce efficient grass collection even when it’s a bit damp.
It costs £3199, £600 off the maker’s recommended price, has a five-year warranty and is delivered free in three to five working days.
And the biggest in the range is the Oleo-Mac OM125-23KH Garden Tractor with Electronic Grassbag Emptying, a machine with a massive 125cm – 50in – cutting width.
This one is powered by a Briggs & Stratton 724cc engine which has minimum vibration levels and full pressure lubrication.
This again will collect clippings, mulch them or discharge at the back and is aimed at property owners with up to five acres to keep in check.
And it is one of the very few garden tractors where you can empty the grass box with just a flick of a switch – this usually costs an extra £350 but is included in the price.
This model costs £3799, £1200 off the recommended price. We deliver it free within three to five working days and there is a five-year manufacturer’s warranty.
