Great mowers from Hayter to make your lawn summer barbecue ready

High summer arrives, the roads are jammed, beaches awash with red bodies and those staying at home decide this is the time for a summer party and food cremation, or barbecues as this summer ritual is better known.

A perfect lawn is essential and for this you need a great mower – and these machines from Hayter are just about the best you can buy.

Hayter are manufactured in Britain and have a long history as they were among the first to manufacture lawnmowers.

If you need a new mower have a look at these from the pages on our site where they are listed. And they’re all at very keen prices.

For a smaller lawn, the Hayter Spirit 41 Petrol Push Rear Roller Lawnmower (Code: 617) is ideal.

As you push it, the mower is easier to control around garden corners, and it will leave a striped finish which will really show off the rest of the garden.

Hayter Harrier 48 lawnmower
Set you own pace: Hayter Harrier 48 lawnmower

For a bigger lawn you need a mower with a wider cut and this one which is self-propelled and this one could well fit the bill.

The Hayter Harrier 48 Autodrive Lawnmower with Variable Speed (Code: 490) has a 48cm cutting width and is powered by a 190cc Briggs & Strattom Ready-Start engine.

These engines start with the lightest of pulls on the starter cord and need no priming.

This one has cutting heights from 13mm to 60mm and the cutting deck is lined to keep the noise down and give it a longer life.

It also has a cutter bar friction disc so the crank will not bend if you hit something solid.

The aluminium chassis gives the mower a long life and it has a 70-litre grass box to minimise the trips to the compost heap.

This one costs £765 compared with the recommended price of £899 and free 10-litre jerry can worth £24.95 is included as a free gift.

It has a five year warranty and is delivered free the next working day.

Hayter re-cycling mower
British machine: Hayter R53A Recycling mower

And if you have areas to cut where the finish is not so important you may well consider this one, the Hayter R53A Power-Driven Recycling Lawn Mower VS ES (Sens-A-Speed Transmission, Aluminium Deck) (Code: 449).

For this mower can mulch and discharge clippings to the side as well as collect them. But only mulch when the grass is dry or you will be left with unsightly clumps of cut grass.

Another great advantage with this machine is that it matches the speed at which you want to mow, so you won’t find it dragging you round trees and borders faster than is comfortable.

This one also has a 190cc Briggs & Stratton engine which is started with a key, so no tugging on a starter rope.

This one has cutting heights from 25mm to 114mm and a 54.5 litre grass box

It costs £639, £120 off the recommended price and again there is a free 10-litre steel jerry can.

It is delivered free the next working day with a bottle of engine oil to get you started and has a three year warranty.
