Hints & Tips
Here’s a way of working off some of the Christmas Day excesses – cut the lawn.
Yes, we know it’s December, the month when we should be shovelling snow, but with the abnormally warm weather and plenty of moisture the grass is still growing really quickly.
Just trim the tops off, don’t try to cut it too short or the clippings will ball up and leave a mess; and whatever you do don’t try to mulch them.
And if you think this cutting the lawn in December is the stuff of fairy tales, I’ve just trimmed mine and it looks much better for it.
In fact now is a great time to buy a new mower and we have several listed in our New Year sale.
And this one is amongst them, the MTD 53BS Self-Propelled Petrol Lawnmower, a bargain mower from a leading USA manufacturer and exclusive to us at MowDirect.
It is fitted with a great Briggs & Stratton engine, from their 600E series noted for its reliability and easy starting, 150cc of great power.
There are six cutting heights from 20mm to 90mm and a cutting width of 53 cm making it suitable for medium-sized lawns up to 1500m2.
And it has a much larger grass box than most mowers of this size – 80 litres.
In our sale it costs just £229 and we deliver it free of charge the day after receiving your order, but please note we’re not back at our desks until January 4.
